I find these kinds of opinions very unhelpful. Of course there are good dry foods. I've fed my cat on dry james well beloved since she was about a year old and shes in perfect condition. She will barely even touch wet food. Some cats wont even look at wet food. The advantage with JWB is that it contains no additives or preservatives. |

Re: Dry food
thanks - he is the happiest flirt of a cat i have ever met - even when we take him to the vets, he purrs so much, i think he is going to combust! I am going to get some more advice on having to feed him the prescription food as he doesnt really like it and has lost 1kg!
Before that, we gave them both coley and white fish which they adore! it doesnt have to be expensive either. good luck as well - i hope you find some food that does the job ![]()

Re: Dry food
I would suggest you do your own research then, and find out just how bad for your cat's overall health and longevity a dry diet really is. OR you can just stick your head in the sand and make digs at people that HAVE taken the time to research the matter
The choice is yours.

The book was written by a real person with real experiences as not only a vet and a cat breeder, but someone who has also seen the otherside of the petfood industry.

Re: Dry food
everythin that everyone has said has been taken on board and it seems to me alot of ppl are havin problems with dry food, however i still cant understand why its produced if its bad it jst seems crazy.
Like i said in another post i think ill jst go for the high quality wet food as intended and see how he feels without his dry food. prevention is better than cure. thanx for all help individual experiences really help |

Because its a multi million £/$ business and that includes vets in that who benefit financially. Sadly they are the ones that are best placed to highlight the increase in incidences or kidney disease, urinary disfunction, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and their link back to modern dry diets, but they don't because of their relationship with the manufacturers.

Re: Dry food
my opinions were just based on what we have been through with Syd and the fact that Cass would rather chew my arm off than give up her fish, but doesn't even bother with dry any more (I gave her a little bit as i thought i was denying her it and she left it)
So mine is not professional advice, but I do know that dry food can help to block up male cats, high quality or not - due to lack of moisture - and the research I have done on his cystitis backs it up Hayleyb, you obviously only want what is best for your kit so do what you think it is right. as i said, i am going to read the book - it is written by someone who knows so i have nothing to lose good luck and keep me updated :-)
