Charlie O'Marley is here

I have been meaning to update you all sooner, but things have been a bit hectic here.

Charlie came home on the Wednesday evening rather then the Thursday. He settled in really well and is a playful, affectionate ball of fluff (completely different to Thomas at the same age who was wild to say the least). He didn't eat until the next day and spent a few hours crying for mum and his siblings, but come the evening he had settled down to sleep on my husbands chest. This is the same husband who after telling there was no way he was sleeping in our room carried him up to bed and spent the whole night awake worried that we might roll on him in the night.

He is a little gem with his litter tray and loves our daughters. Introductions with Thomas have gone well. At first Thomas went out of his way to ignore him (possibly in the hopes that Charlie would go away) then he hid under the table just watching Charlie. Today he got closer and gave Charlie an unclawed clip round the ear and has now gone back to ignoring him.

Looking at how Charlie is compared to Thomas at the same age I am beginning to think we had Thomas way to early. We got Thomas from a pet shop (I know, don't shout, but we were naive to say the least) who said he was 8 weeks old, but Thomas's eyes were still blue and didn't change for a few weeks. He possesses no social skills or graces to speak of and he only seeks us out if he wants feeding or letting in/out.

Anyway here's some pictures of Charlie, not very good ones, but he doesn't stay still long enough.

Ahhh. Love black cats, there is something about them.

We had a Charlie too.

If he grows into anything like ours you will be blessed. He was a star, and the smartest cat we ever had. Sadly over the rainbow some 5 years now

Re: Charlie O'Marley is here

Thank you everyone!

RIP big Charlie!

Charlie is having a cat nap in his bed at the moment, he was on my lap, but I had to move him as my youngest daughter had a 'happy wee wee accident', don't ask.

Introductions with the dog are taking longer, we have a stair gate up at the living room door, so both Shen and Charlie can see each other. Shen is so desprate to see Charlie (he wants to show him his duck, Shen shows all new additions his duck). But Charlie has decided to keep his distance while having a spit and hiss.

When Thomas came home by the second day he was ruling the roost and had Shen wrapped around his paw. Now when we let Thomas in the first person he deems to greet is the dog!

Re: Charlie O'Marley is here

My husband 'the animal tolerator' has been making coo coo noises at him and calling him his Charlie Boy when he thinks I'm not listening. He also ordered me to pop to P@H today and get Thomas some treats as he thinks he's feeling depressed over the new arrival.
