Question I have 4 indoor cats I cant take in a 5th can I?

I've posted about this cat in the Rescue forum but I admit it's still in my head that I should just give in and bring her home. I have 4 indoor cats (5,4 and 2x3 yrs old) and there is a stray (5-6yrs old) that need looking after as the woman who was taking care of her died 3 days ago. I've had no luck finding a shelter to take her and it looks like it will be 2 weeks before I can get her into one.

She's a lovely cat and friendly but I'm scare of how it would upset my 4 and her. I wouldn't be able to let her out as I have a tube line at the end of a very short garden. I live in a 3 bed house and there's 3 adults (human) to give an idea of space.

Is there any chance it would work or am I right that I just need to wait and get her to a rescue shelter to rehome?

Hi,

I live in a 2-bed bungalow and have 4 indoor cats.......number 5 will be joining soon!!

I say go for it - if your cats make you happy then why not?

Don't get me wrong I would be over the moon if I could keep her but am very concerned with upsetting the 4 I already have. Forgot to mention last time, mine are 2 girls and 2 boys and the stray is a girl.

There is only you who really knows your situation, if you feel you could include her in your brood whilst still giving your original cats a good home then I say go for it!
She sounds like she needs someone to care for her and if the introductions go ok then one more can't make that much difference.
Maybe if you had like 20 then it would be a bit much!

I would like more than my two house cats but I am forbidden (miserable OH!)

think yourself lucky my miserable other half has banned me from havin more than 1.

with regards to your 5th i say if you feel you have the room and your other cats accept her then go for it. you obviously care for her and you no with you she'll be well cared for and thats all she asks for at the end of the day. shelter food and love is all they need.

good luck with it

I think you've got a good balance already so adding another shouldn't be a problem, especially if they've all been spayed/neutered. I have 3 boys and 1 girl and think my next will be a girl.........

You could always give it a go, at least then you'll never be wondering "what if". And if they all get on brilliantly then it will have 100% been worth it!

(ps - my reason for all the cats is that we dont need kids lol!! can't think why my hubby encourages me to have more pets! )

Like others have said only you know the situation really well. I would say that if you think your other kitties will cope and you think there is enough space then why not. As long as you can afford it and can commit to this new kitty then why not?

I suspect you really want to anyway you just want us to talk you into it

I think you can.

I have quite a lot of cats at the moment, okay so 5 are kittens but surely they still count.

As for upsetting your other cats, yes it will but only for a few weeks, if even that.

I would love to have a house full of cats. I am the only person I know who would like to be named "that weird cat woman".
