Re: HELP NEEDED- 15 week old kitten wont sleep !

Oh dear, I know how you feel a little bit coz Jasper did the same sort of thing. I used to make sure he didn't sleep from when I got home from work (about 4) until I went to bed (about 10.30). If he went to go to sleep I'd get him up again with a toy and use ones where they have to run around a lot. I'd then give him a big meal before bed and maybe some kitten milk and when he'd finished give him a cuddle and go to bed. I found that he'd sleep for most of the night then as he was so tired. But at 15 weeks they are quite lively. I found with every week Jasper got older he calmed down a bit and got a bit more independent. He's now 9 months and going out freely and is Mr Independent. I know you are probably shattered at the moment but it will get better. No sleep for at least 6 hours if you can should help and lots of running around.

LOL I don't blame you!

I am like a bear with a sore head when I'm tired so I know how you must feel! It can be really tiring but hopefully she will settle soon. I'd also maybe try a feliway defuser ... other than that I really don't know sorry!

Re: HELP NEEDED- 15 week old kitten wont sleep !

lol - this is what it is like having a baby! My first didn't sleep through until she was 4 and 1/2 years old!!!!!! I had two others by then - by the time the thrid slept through it was 7 years since my last full nights sleep!! If you can't handle the kitten don't have kids!

I know you don't want another but they will play and keep each other company and occupied in the night - then you will be kept awake with all the running around and the bumping etc! You can't win, cats are noturnal by nature, but seriously she will eventually calm down - it is like kids give her a week of ignoring and it will settle - if you talk to your neighbours about what you are trying to doto stop it it might help too.

Re: HELP NEEDED- 15 week old kitten wont sleep !

well heres the update guys,

Thanks for all the advice btw... and for the record i dont think i could cope with a baby lol this has been stressful enough..

First of all i went to the pet shop and brought her some new toys (now shes taken over the WHOLE apartment with them and shes very spoilt), i always brought a new scratch post for her which cost me a fortune but its bigger then the other one with places to sleep. ive also purchased a feliway diffuser which again was expensive but at that moment in time i was clutching at straws. (im not 2 good when im tired) lol..

at about half 8 i was struggling to keep my eyes open and so was Ella so i started playing with her for about an hour (which i normally do anyway) by the end of it neither of us could keep our eyes open so i gave her a cuddle and put her to bed.. she must of gone to sleep instantly because i ddidnt hear her till about 12.30am... she did a few crys but after 5 mins she'd stopped.... i then wasnt woken again till 5am... but this time i had to goout to her has she was being loud.. i gave her a cuddle and tucked her back into bed.... she cryed for a further 10 mins on and off and then i didnt hear her until 8 when i got up for work.. so RESULT!! (im a much happier bunny 2day as ive had LOADS of sleep)....

Im not sure if the Feliway Diffusser has helped yet or not... but its the best nights sleep ive had in nearly 2 weeks. not sure if it was just the fact that ella had been tired throughout the day or the fact the feliway diffuser had relaxed her more. I also put an old bath towel in her bed instead of her pink designer kitty blanket and ive got to admit she seemed to like it more (fussy thing). so fingers crossed she will settle more now

There is light at the end of the tunnell!!
koekemakranka and honeysmummy like this.

glad you got a better nights sleep - keep on doing the same things with her so it becomes second nature and she will learn. Well done.

Re: HELP NEEDED- 15 week old kitten wont sleep !

I went through this stage with my two kitties. I think its an instinct thing, they have an urge in the early hours it must be to hunt or something, or they can hear things we can't hear. They seem to stop this at about 6 months especailly when they get into a routine of knowing that you wont get up. They also begin to know when its the time you usually get up. I didn't need an alarm clock they would wake me about 5 minutes before the alarm went off. This happens at the weekend too when i don't need to get up early, but i still do for their sakes. It's a lot like having babies, when you establish a routine they are very happy to go along with your rules as long as you stick to them.

I'm so so glad. My old Muira was a bit like that but she grew to be the best cat I ever owned, until that Bastard dog got her, she was amazing, I was so close to her!!
