Fluffy tail

This may not seem like a serious question but do any of your cats fluff their tails up like a pine cone?

Mani seems to do this when he is happy getting stroked, but I thought this reaction was more for scared cats?

Lola does it too but hers isn't as impressive as Mani's, not as much fluff...

Re: Fluffy tail

It's funny isn't it! We call it fox tail. Josie does it when she's really excited by playing, usually playing football with a wee ball of paper!

Re: Fluffy tail

When they do that its called the Hackles.
They do this when frightened or threatened because they
are trying to look bigger than the challenger
so as to put him off. A cat would rather walk away than fight.
