Question Kitten Kit!?

Right, you guys have been really helpful with my individual questions and I am really grateful.

I ma driving myself seriously mad looking at all the websites a products available.

I am bringing home 2 beautiful ragdoll kittens on 18th July.

I know most of the stuff I need but am not sure what is best to get.

I have been advised on the right litter tray and water fountain for them.

I need bed/s (1 or 2?) - Do I need just a bed or baskets too?

scratching post (should I get a activity tree now or just a post). I was going to get 2, one for the living room and one for the hall.

Grooming items

Food bowls....will one be enough for them while they are little?

Toys

I have loked at pet at home, zoo plus & pet planet..

Does anyone have any items they bought I are dying to reccomend? if so please do!!!!! I am a shopoholic and am scared of buying too many things!

What should I get?? x

Thanks guys!

Re: Kitten Kit!?

hehe

best litter boxes are the big ones that have hoods. I'll upload a picture. These ones help avoid litter getting on the surrounding floor and also help with the smell.

Personally, I would get more than one food bowl.. Just so they each have something to eat out of if they're hungry at the same time.

What do you plan on feeding them? If you get canned food (which you definitely should.. as well as dry food) you'll probably need can covers.. (I'll upload a picture of those too :P) They're for when you don't use up the whole can.. It keeps the food fresh.

You don't really need a water fountain.. I mean it's a cool thing but more of a novelty. I don't want to be misleading, if I had one it'd be awesome.. But if you just get a normal bowl you'll have more money for toys

I'd recommend a cat tree because you can get cat trees that have scratching posts on them already.

You can put the tree in your living room or hall, and also buy just a normal small scratching post to put in another room.. (in case they're in there and have the urge to scratch.)

One really really great thing you could get is catnip spray. I was always a little against the idea of catnip.. but the spray (at least with the one i have) only contains the part of catnip that attracts the cat, and not the part that drugs them

One really great toy I have for my kitties is a little toy mouse. I recommend the hard ones that don't have cotton in them, and are coated with a feather/fur like material.. They feel real and the cats usually get really serious about them xD.

You don't need a basket as well but there's no harm in getting one. I like the idea of one biggish bed so they can both cuddle together.. (I'm getting excited talking about cat things.. If I had the money I'd be buying all sorts of things..xD)

Another great toy is anything stick-like that has some sort of feathery thing at the end. If it has tinsel at the end that's fine but just be careful that your cat doesn't rip any off and eat it..

Hope I was a help.. Sorry for blabbing!

Re: Kitten Kit!?

I'd got for the biggest cat tree you can afford, that way as the kittens get bigger it will suit them as adult cats too...you could then get some smaller scratching pots to dot around different rooms in the house so they have something to stratch if they need to...i have this one in my hallway

Buy Cat Scratching Post. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for .

Also, if you're looking for toys and can afford to I'd recommend spending a few extra pounds on these two toys..My kittens spend hrs each day playing with them. They absolutely love them

Oh and of course a laser pen..all cats LOVE laser pens

Re: Kitten Kit!?

I bet you are so excited and the wait seems so long. Do you have any pics of your new kittens?

As to bed etc i wouldn't bother. I bought a bed for my kittens and it has only been used once for a quick nap in the 3 months I've had them..they tend to sleep on the beds, sofas or pretty much anywhere but their cat bed

Food bowls..I'd get a food bowl for each kitten as that way you can seperate the food and easily see how much food each kitten is eating plus there's less chance of them fighting over the food or becomming dominant over it:

And cats can never have enough toys however apart from their big toys their favourite things to play with are scrunched up bits of tin foil and pasta..they live to play football with them on the kitchen floor

Re: Kitten Kit!?

ooh forgot to say....as for the food/water bowls go for a ceramic bowl as plastics can leach chemicals into the water and harbor bacteria which can lead to acne on the cats chin.
