Sick after tablets

I gave the cats their 2nd lot of worming tablets at around 5 pm. I bought the worming tables that you need to give 3 tablets- 1st the round worm, then a week later the tape worm then a week later the other round worm tablet.

So today it was the tape worm tablet and she has just been sick.

I always make sure they eat something after a tablet so they don't cough it back up again as my old cat used to do this. They had some tuna.

Anyway, will this mean she is no longer protected against tape worms? I don't know if the tablet was in the sick there were cat biscuits in there too.

Re: Sick after tablets

hi if it was my cat i would wait until the next course is due becouse you dont know your cat could have digested some of the tablet. i would also speak to a vet and ask what the implications are if you give your cat another tablet this is what i would do but im not a vet.

Re: Sick after tablets

I'd say that your cat probably isn't protected. Patch did this with the tape worm tablets & when my OH mentioned it to the vets a couple of days later he had their tablets shoved down his throat. Needless to say that didn't come back up - but they obviously decided that he wasn't protected.

We've got a spot-on now to cover this - which avoids the sick patches (no pun intended ).

Re: Sick after tablets

You would be better leaving it a couple of weeks and then getting some milbemax from your vet, one tiny tablet and its all in one, sooo much easier

Even better, Profender, a spot-on wormer that treats all the common worms. So easy to use

Firstly, were these veterinary licensed products? I've never heard of a 3 step pill dose for different worms. I would say NO they are not protected against those worms if any at all! No product on the market covers all species of worms and the ones that come the closest and cover the most are veterinary prescribed worming treatments. I would seriously consider speaking to a vets immediately to get proper worming treatment and stop wasting your money and potentially putting your babies at risk with shop/internet products that are not veterinary prescribed or recommended.

Secondly, many prescription strength treatments have side effects please be sure to go over these before you return home and give the medications to your pets so you know and you don't need ask later or worry. Worming treatments are known to cause vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. Also in some over the counter products that are not veterinary prescribed the side effects include: vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, seizures, convulsions, stroke, bleeding, and organ failure, many of these leading to death. Is it really worth buying the 'cheaper' product?

Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis, Echinococcus species, Taenia species, Dipylidium caninum

Profender covers-
Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Dipylidium caninum, Taenia taeniaeformis, and Echinococcus multilocularis

some of those are different types of the same species of tapeworm and roundworm. the others are whipworm, heartworm, lungworm, hookworm, giardia and a few other nasties that aren't worms but can cause a whole hell of a lot of problems.

I wonder how many species Johnson's and Bob Martin kills... and I wonder how they work out their dosing... hmm
