Where do you let your cat sleep at night?

I have 2 cats and i of them is due to give birth soon so we are letting her have the run of the house at night at the moment(as our dog loves looking after her) but up till now we have kept both cats in the kitchen at night but now we leave just the male cat in there now but wanted to know is this wrong or should we let them both sleep where they want to?

i am someone who dont like pets sleeping in the bedrooms but if we let them sleep anywhere i think thats where they would end up.

any views please.

We have always let the cats have full run of the house. And they do so love sleeping close to you. Most of our cats have slept on the landing as there is a hot water pipe that touches the floorboards making a hot spot. They have all managed to find it over the years But later in the night, as it gets colder they will creep onto the bottom of the bed - the wife's side, as I'm 6"2 so my feet poke out the bottom

It's nice to be woken up with a head rub or a little paw patting your eyes. Not so nice at 5.30 on the weekend though!

Re: Where do you let your cat sleep at night?

My cat sleeps alone in the kitchen and she has done from day one. I need my sleep and her cat hairs all over my bed would not help my asthma I don't think it is wrong to seperate your cat and I also do not feelt hat a bedroom is the place for animals. She lays on the bed when I am in there getting dressed or pottering around in there otherwise she is not in there at all. Plus the bedroom is the only decent room left after she got her claws into everything

Re: Where do you let your cat sleep at night?

I have made a bedding area near the radiator in the kitchen (which is very big) and intend to shut him in there at night. I can't have him and the dog chasing each other around at night or I would never sleep, and also I wouldn't like the hairs in my bed either. When I am in and not in bed he can have full run of the house, but I intend to teach him when bedtime is and that is where he is at bedtime.

I used to feel guilty leaving my cat in the kitchen all night until he spent wednesday night stuck in a tree with the wind and the animals, now the kitchen must seem a luxury.

Might sound abit mean, but Boxer goes out at night, he wont settle otherwise and about 10pm every night he will go to the back door and cry to go out! I often wonder where he must go, but it must be somewere good as whenever we let him back in in the morning he sleeps all day!

In bed with me. Only because as a kid, we never had a say in where the cats slept as they were in charge & it was always in bed so it feels wrong without a cat there.

in the kitchen - NEVER on the bed as I sleep very lightly and I won't get a wink.

My cat has the run of the house but as soon as i go to bed she follows me up to bed and curls up as close as she can get to me and stays there all night until i get up.
