Fostering again or reintroducing Mikah to Sophie?

So for those who don't know. Mikah is my cat and Sophie is a mommy cat who I'm fostering. I also am fostering Sophie's 5 babies. (now 5 weeks old)

I had a really bad experience introducing them.. Things were going normal at first (Mikah hissing and sniffing the cage) but I thought that wasn't how it was supposed to be and I scolded Mikah.. When really I guess I shouldn't have..

During the first week Sophie attacked Mikah because of Mikahs constant hissing.. Mikah was hissing and made a sudden movement to jump onto my bed away from Sophie, but the movment starteld Sophie and she attacked my Mikah.

I have not let them in the same room since then.. It's probably been 3-4 weeks since that happened. Whenever Mikah walks by the room from the hallway (door shut) Sophie runs to the door and sticks her paws under as if trying to reach and hit Mikah. In return, Mikah hisses.

Should I try to maybe put the kittens in a different room (my sisters or something) and put Sophie in the crate that's in my room, and try to reintroduce them?

I'd really love to foster again after this, but I can't do it if that means Mikah will be unhappy.

Suggestions?

Re: Fostering again or reintroducing Mikah to Sophie?

I don't really have any advice I'm afraid.. just wanted to say that Sophie and Mikah got off to a bad start (with Sophie being a new/young mum etc) so reintrocing *might* work... but I would guess a slim chance

I know Cats Protection and several other rescues in UK prefer that you don't intergrate foster cats with your pets as it can be emotionally upsetting for the resident cat to bond then have their playmate removed as they go on to a new home, once or twice doable but on a regular basis is very upsetting and stressful.

Personally in your situation I would probably put Mikah first and either get a permenant friend or not foster if you don't have the room to always keep comfortabley separated

Re: Fostering again or reintroducing Mikah to Sophie?

Still unsure..

If Mikah does show interest I'll make sure to still (for the most part) keep her separated from the other cats. I don't want her to be depressed because she misses them... but I also don't want her to miserable if they're here..

Anyone have any suggestions?

If it was me I would wait until the kittens have got new homes. Sophie will be protecting them and maybe re-introducing them once the kittens have homes they might get along better?

Re: Fostering again or reintroducing Mikah to Sophie?

I know that but the main problem is with Mikah. Originally Sophie would approach Mikah and sniff her and Mikah would hiss and Sophie would just lay on her side

Mikah is the one who scared Sophie and made Sophie attack her
