Drooling?

So I always thought that when Mikah gets really happy and starts rubbing all of her face over me and her wet nose that her nose would run and drip on my face.. But just the other day I realized that it's not her nose.. She's actually drooling!

Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Re: Drooling?

how old is Mikah? I remember Waffles went through a stage for a few days when she kept drooling. She did it for about five - seven days. It really scared me because there was a LOT of drool. I rang my Dad in tears and asked him to come and look at her and I posted on here frantically. Turns out she was teething Could it be that? She had no discomfort with eating or drinking so I didn't take her to the vets and it went away.

Re: Drooling?

I remember reading somewhere, don't know where, that it is a sign of some sort of issue with either the kidney or liver. Can't remember where or which, I'm afraid, & I only read it the once as I was looking into it for my sister whose cat drools worse than anything I have met before (dogs included!).

Re: Drooling?

One of mine does this, and it's grim. He does it mainly at night when he wants biscuits and he gets like real up in your face, pummeling, purring loudly, won't settle, drips on your face, licks a lot too

I read it was in this instance him wanting food and just getting overly excited/happy. I try and make sure he has some biscuits before lights out but still occassionally, dribble dribble

I still don't know whether or not I should be worried :s

edit: I just read online that it's normal for a cat to drool when they're happy

Totally normal! But if you're worried have regular chk ups in the year and have the vet check Mikah's teeth and gums!

2 of my cats dribble when you stroke them...think its because they are excited! I dont think its anything to worry about!
