Thats a bit of a sweeping statement, when everyone who has expressed a dislike for rehoming, and it is a personal choice I accept that, has said that they would rather give up breeding than rehome NOT carry on adding cat after cat, so very far from being irresponsible

i meant irresponsible to keep loads of cats if you're trying to better your breedings, did you read KK's post on what i agreed on? - it's alot of responsibility and if you have problems for example a mother not wanting to feed kittens or c-sections or ill queens etc i'm sure it would be extremely hard work keeping a ton of cats happy, fed and cuddled etc when you're having to watch or bottle feed kittens constantly x

i'm confused so i hope someone will give me an answer to this, if you'd rather give up breeding then why start up in the first place, as it'd only be about 6 years before you started retiring queens if you got them as kittens, as with studs and it's only one litter a year so it's not as easy in a shorter space of time to establish your own bloodlines and cats and try and better your breedings and produce your best show winners etc xx

Just because some of you won't and some of us will does not mean us that do it for the benefit of the cat shouldn't have our say also x People have said we're irresponsible, even in a round about way x

if it's irresponible for us to do that, then i'm sure you could say that breeders in general are irresponsible as there's many cats out there that need homes and we still breed ours x

it's one of these threads where everyone just has to agree to disagree, has to be one or two each month doesn't there lol x

Re: Re-homing???

start in the first place as you enjoy the hobby while it can last. if you only have 6 years then they will have been 6 happy years enjoying breeding cats of the breed you love. if your cats are unhappy when neutered and you still have entires then you would probably sit back and think well it's been good while it lasted but i think i'll neuter my cats now and enjoy them as neuters and prehaps even show them etc...

this is something that gets me with wanting to breed. i have neuters and i am not sure if an entire girl would upset the applecart. therefore i feel if i want to breed i would wait until prehaps my current generation of cats pass, which could be 30 years in which case i may not want to breed then, lol.... but if i did breed i could see myself breeding for a certain number of years until i stopped due to having girls neutered etc.

but i am blabbling on now. as i mentioned in a post before bring on the neuters, much better to live with,

Re: Re-homing???

I agree that it is a difficult topic to agree on - we all know our own cats and we all know whether they are happy in a certain situation or not. I am lucky that my 3 neuters put up with whatever entires we bring in....if they weren't so laid back, it would have been much harder.

Funnily enough, our 2 year old neuter moggie Lily seems to be top cat and the coonies will get a swipe if they get out of line!!! I am hoping it will stay nice but if not, I will have a feliway in every plugpoint in the house!!!
