Re: awful family....

I'm afraid there is nothing you can do. The thought of seven week old kittens running around unsupervised on even the quietest of roads is not a pleasant one - they are too small for cars to see easily and very likely to run out in front of a car. However every cloud has a silver lining, and if these people lose a few kittens to cars or (more likely if it is a very quiet road) to theft, they mighy perhaps start thinking again about the wisdom of what they are doing. Or they might not.

As for the rest, breeding moggies is not illegal and there is nothing that can be done execpt to hope that they get fed up with the litter tray cleaning, endless no-shows from people wanting kittens, and spraying and fighting tom cats.

As for £50 - yes, that is quite normal. All sales transactions that are not regulated can be predicted by simple supply and demand. One of the side-effects of a culture where most moggy owners have their cats spayed, is that those who don't are not producing enough kittens to saturate the market. Therefore people will pay. The alternatives would be worse, we just have to accept it.

Re: awful family....

That's disgusting, and so sickly I hope they get good homes, if anyone wants to pay that price.

Re: awful family....

A similar scenario happened to one of my pet sitters. Her next door but one neighbour also had a cat who she did not care for, and my sitter kept feeding her. She called the RSPCA who did nothing, so she put the cat into a basket and took it along to a rescue centre. That little cat was also pregnant.

It was a happy ending however, since she found a loving home and the kittens did also. Food for thought don't you think

Re: awful family....

Thanks for all the replies. I've been out all day so have only just caught up with them. I will give my local CPL a call on Tuesday and see if there is anything that they can do. I belive that the other 3 kittens have gone to friends of their family and if they are anything like these lot they will not look after them either

What would happen say if I accidently took the mum cat home with me on day and had her spayed and then she just happened to find her way home again a few weeks later?...they probably wouln't even notice she was mising and doubt they'd be able to tell that she had been spayed and i don't think they'd get another kitten in this time as they have the 2 kittens plus a dog

Re: awful family....

Don't risk it - you would have to keep her confined for weeks and if they saw her sitting in your window there would be trouble.

Re: awful family....

couldnt you just catnap the kittens without someone seeing you, then maybe neighbours might just say someone picked them up, worth a try
as no doubt she'll just let the brother and sister mate and the cats will be deformed then god knows what she'll do

have you not seen the price of kittens these days, some are going for £100, one woman was asking £60 my daughter phoned up and asked if she would take £40 she said no i want £60 as the pet shops are asking £120

Re: awful family....

This is awful, and I can't see it getting any better for those poor kittens

a part of me would be glad if they were hit by a car, at least then they won't have to suffer the kind of life they're likely to have with those horrible people

Could you take the mother to be spayed and then leave her with a friend/relative to recover so that the neighbours don't see her? Once she's healed I doubt your neighbours will be any the wiser to it
