Shmitty! is on a distinguished road
Re: So tempted......!

See the new cat first before deciding, but be warned as soon as you see it, YOU'LL DECIDE!!

Your hubby may be right about the neighbours and the smudge SITUE, my OH has to deal with me all the time and this kind of thing, I just update him and he keeps out of it.

Yes, I agree - that's why I was holding off on even making an enquiry. It'll be love at first sight if I go and look....... The neighbour who owns smudge actually offered me a kitten from their other cat when i first took smudge for the chip scan. Didn't go in and look cos I knew I'd come out with one under my arm lol.

Weird thing is I know in my heart of hearts that OH is right about the neighbours. Just seems so unreasonable that I can't even know if she's alive and well........

Re: So tempted......!

Considering Smudge's injury and the fact you are not sure that the neighbour will treat it......

I would contact the RSPCA and tell them.....they have the authority to check on the cat.

Re: So tempted......!

Tigger looks a lovely tabby cat. Neutered boys are usually fine and don't spray (though you do get the occasional one). I'd advise you to find out as much as possible about Tigger's situation and don't rush into any decision. If you miss him and he goes to another home don't worry - there are plenty of cats needing love

Yeah, although not sure how effective or caring they really are. Someone on this forum recently posted a thread about an elderly cat left out in the rain all the time. Called the RSPCA and they said it was 'cared for' just because it had food (biscuits swimming in rain water) and another bowl with more rain water. I don't know......

Just said to the OH though that I'm going over to the neighbours on saturday to ask if Smudge is well. Going away to see friends for a couple of days and just HAVE to know now. Plus, they might let her go out if I tell them I'm away.

Then the OH can 'nab' her back while I'm away (only joking)

Re: So tempted......!

Hi,

I would go and see this cat and see if you bond! What harm can it do, you will know instantly if its the right thing to do.

Im not sure what to advise about the Smudge situation. I would want to know the foot is ok too but at the end of the day if they aren't obliging then there isn't much you can do. Im sure the cat will be moaning her head off to be let out by now and Im sure they will get cheesed off with that before too long.

Let us know how you get on. I know I couldn't be without my cats, they are such a big part of my life and the void would be huge without them.

Izzie

Good thinking about going to see the rescue - might do after the bank holiday. I was wondering about Smudge moaning to go out by now!! She was always v. insistent about that. Used to sit by the door and go 'ouuuu' - we used to say all she needed was the 't' and then we'd put her on YouTube lol

Plus they're other cat has kittens due so that will hopefully make them lose interest in locking Smudge up.

The only thing I'm afraid of now is that if she does come back here and the neighbours don't want to give her up then I'm back in exactly the same position - and creating myself this heartache over and over again. Mmhhh, decisions, decisions!

That is the hard part, you don't want to keep going round in circles with this situation, I know you are very fond of Smudge but maybe in some way you have to move forward. Making an appointment to see this boy may help you do that.

I have lovely boys who are neutered and we have never had spraying from them, one of them was done after 12 months of age and he still didn't do it! I hope it goes well for you.

Yeah, you're quite right. It is a 'circles' situation. It will just drive me mad to keep seeing her and yet not being responsible for her. Everytime she looks a bit off colour I'd have to alert her real owners. Plus I'm thinking I still have the time to settle in a new arrival before I find another job. Just have this 'weird' loyalty to Smudge. Keep thinking of her little face if she comes back and finds another kitty here........I know, I'm crazy!!

I got official confirmation of my going crazy earlier - was listening to my i-pod while doing the housework and listening to a song called 'No air' - actually found myself replacing no air with 'no cat hair' and getting all upset cos all of the cat hair had gone off the bed now

Calling the white coat brigade now
