Kitten families..

I dunno what it is but sometimes you get someone that makes you think" Are you for real or what?"
Mostly perspective kitt families are all you'd want and then some, but today a woman(to be polite, coz i am) rang asking for a female kitten-any kitten ready to go yesternow would do, coz she wanted to breed a couple of litters from her as she thought Siamese were a popular catShe'd bred before but from moggies and she didn't care about papers, pedigree's etc because the people she had inquiries from just wanted a cheap, posh kitteek:Well i was not impressed to say the least and when i politely declined her offer to relieve us of a female that "weren't" quite up to scratch, she went into a rather chav like rant on how i should get my head from up my own a..e etc-i am a cool, calm collected person normally and don't lose it easilyHowever i can spout blasphemous words at a faster rate than most people can process them so i do hope for the love of god she is not successful elsewhere-AAarghh,sorry for the rant but omg just goes to show imo that bad breeding comes in human form tooI mean seriously- how utterly rude and on a Saturday-like you've got nothing better to domad: Any thoughts or experiences any of you have had similar??And how did you react?

Re: Kitten families..

I did have one experience of a BYB. Not quite as in your face as yours, but I was put off by them from the start. They smelt bad! (Literally).

They came round late wanting two kittens, smelling of fags and booze and slurring their words. They wanted a male and female, would be keeping them outside together, wouldn't breed them, but wanted to know what would happen if these litter mates did have kittens. eek:

Once they'd finished visiting they called and said they would take both but wanted a discount. They offered £700 for them both - their prices were £450 each so they wanted a £200 discount.

I politely declined.

Re: Kitten families..

Hi,
On average i would say 9 out of 10 enquiries i have for my kittens are from unsuitable people. I had one the other day wanting a male as cheap as possible to use with her female, she was not at all bothered about any proper paper work etc, as long as it was cheap.

Re: Kitten families..

For every new cat I am getting - I am spending long time researching pedigrees and possible genetic problems; trying to avoid mating related lines etc..etc..etc....
When someones enquiering for a kitten to breed - I am asking weather this person knows what he'she's getting into; also weather this person is registered breeder - as it means that there is some researches and work been done (for example breeding cats have to be fed a bit differently to produce strong healthy litters).
The more person trying to learn the more he/she understands that there is no limit of necessary info on breeding and breeding is not a piece of cake.
Most of people enquering was quite civilised, LOL - didnt had any alcohol breathed visitors so far, and I am trying to explain them about "breeding rights", rules and ethics in proper breeding too.
I hope - this message is not offensive to anyone, its more like an explanation.
I am sure that all breeder who are here on Forum - would be more than happy to answer questions re: mentioned above.

Re: Kitten families..

Swap YOU for a parrot!!?! How bizarre! D

I don't think people realise how angry BYBs make registered breeders feel. They make my blood boil and certainly do not adhere to any code of ethics. However there is a market for unregistered cats which people exploit.
