Question litter tray worries

Rather amazed at the moment!! I can access pet forums on my blackberry! Loving it!! Anyway, can anyone advise me on the best type of cat litter to use, I have two kittens who we're originally on the pink gravel type and I've changed them onto the wood based pellets as the gravel stuff didn't seem to be absorbing anything at all, yes the pellets absorb well but my kitties won't use the litter tray unless it is now changed more than twice daily, they don't like when the pellets swell and create a sawdust type consistensy, any decent well absorbing brands that are clean and smell nice???

Re: litter tray worries

We use Litter Purrfect from Costco - absorbs well. Think it works out about £7.60ish for 13ltr tub.

Re: litter tray worries

I use worlds best, which doesn't track much, doesn't smell and only need to remove clumps and toilet once a day - I change it completely about once a month (although I do top it up weekly). It's a bot on the expensive side, but I wouldn't change to anything else.

Good luck

Re: litter tray worries

i use sainsburys own brand ultra clumping litte. i had the same probs with my 2 cats. my baby cat norman hates even a slightly dirty litter tray so it was a nightmare finding a good comprimise. the litter i now use is a clay based litter so it forms easy to remove clumps when wee'd on. i remove the poops and clumps every day and top up with clean litter, and i completely change the litter once a week. its only about £4 too so pretty cheap

Re: litter tray worries

I use Bob Martins antibacterial clumping litter, it clumps solidly so wee's are easy to remove, I clean out once a day (and top up) and completely clean out every 6 weeks as that's roughly how long a bag lasts, its £5.25 for a 20ltr bag - they're heavy but well worth it. There's no dust and no smells

Every 6 weeks? I thought you were meant to clean it out properly every week??

Natural, Flushable, Biodegradable Cat Litter 3kg/6.6lbs on eBay, also Litter Supplies, Cats, Pet Supplies, Home Garden (end time 02-May-09 16:53:00 BST)
This is the one I use - it is small grained and clumping. It tracks a little but not too bad and no smells. It's also flushable and biodegradable. You can get up to 10 bags for the same postage. A bag usually lasts me a month, changing about every ten days.
