If he was a dirty cat or it started to smell I would do it more often but I only get one wee and one poo a day and I get no smells at all, its usually about 10cm deep so changing and cleaning would cost me a fortune, if he was ill I would do it every day or if he was a dirty cat but he's not so there's no need

I get mine at Asda too as its only down the road but its not often they have it and I had to get four bags last time just in case they ran out again, luckily I have room to store them and they'll last me about 5 months but it nearly killed me carrying them one by one up to my first floor flat, they're so heavy lol

It's fine don't worry, I know what you mean, people do it differently depending on their own cats. A friend of mine does her's every day as she only puts a small amount of litter in, I think really its down to you as to whether you think it's clean enough, pussy cat will also tell you if its not happy and thinks its dirty as it'll do it outside the tray lol I have a hooded tray as Timmy tends to kick it about a bit and it tends to come out the tray as he can't aim to well (his balance isn't too great, he's still getting used to having a rear leg removed) and he gets frustrated if he can't cover it so he's better off having it deep However with a kitten you will probably need a lot less in the tray at first, but need to change it more regularly although having never had kittens I'm not sure how often they "go" lol

My trays are changed everyday.

I only use a small amount of litter in each tray though.

My 18 year old cat doesn't go out much anymore so prefers to use the tray and my little girl cat has just had kittens so it housebound for the next few weeks.

If its a wee, I change it and wash it with hot water. If its just a poo then I can scoop which saves me chaging so much.
