Question Two kittens - spaying and neutering?

They are only 10 weeks and 9 weeks old at the moment but Im worried that when it does come to the time of getting them spayed and neutered (was hoping to do them at the same time) they playfight ALL the time and what happens if he gets a little too rough with her and takes the stiches out?? ANY advice will be welcomed, Im asking now so I can get anything prepared.

Re: Two kittens - spaying and neutering?

I suppose i was lucky with mine my 3 girls were spayed first and the 2 boys wouldn't go anywhere near them with the Elizabethan collars on they were to scared like they were some sort of aliens !!! to be on the safe side i put one of the girls in my sons room (with a tray) one in my daughters room (with a tray) and one in our room the boys were kept in the kitchen i did this for a few days it doesn't take long before it heals up x

Re: Two kittens - spaying and neutering?

You may find a small dog crate for a little bit may help and let them play for periods each day separatly so she has time to recover put them in crate for a few hours then swap them over. you dont want her leaping about to soon and as you say the rough play may be to much for her. If you use a crate shes still able to keep eyesight and scent of your boy till a bit more recoverd and it shouldnt be for to long. If you put her in a room on her own your have the problem of reintroducing them again after no contact Using a grate he can still lay near by and sniff her etc and her also.

Re: Two kittens - spaying and neutering?

Yeah I gues its a case of seeing how they are together, she had a prolapsed rectrum two weeks ago and he seemed to know that there was something wrong with her and even licked her bum for her to help her. It was sweet. He was ill yesterday after having their 1st innoculations and she slept with him allday despite being great in herself, she was looking after him also. I dont really want to keep them seperate, she miaws if he goes out of sight, same visa versa! *SINGS* "Mee and my shaaadow" hehe!!

Re: Two kittens - spaying and neutering?

I had my two kittens spayed on the same day, they were always playfighting etc etc and I had the same worries as you, but we had no problems at all, they both only had internal stitches and the wound was 'glued' so none of the collar problem either. They dont hurt each other as much as you would think when they are play fighting and if one of them does get a little more than they bargained for they will certainly let the other one know with a few bashes !
