insurance

Lola and Winston are were insured up until Monday through petplan however I found them really expensive so cancelled my policies and was instead going to pay the money into a savings account instead so its there if needed for treatment. However, the day after cancelling my polices Lola decided to jump 8 foot out of a tree and scared me half to death so I have just been obtaining quotes from other companies. E&L & Tesco have both quoted 1/3 of the price i was paying at petpaln for pretty much the same policy. Is anyone insured though e&l or tesco for their cats and have any experience of claiming through them? I had to make a claim for Winston and petplan paid out straight away and were really quick and helpful which is why I’ve been a bit reluctant to leave despite their extortionate prices.

I

Thanks

Re: insurance

I have my kitty insured with Asda. I looked at Tesco, but Asda was cheaper, for the same things, with better reviews!

Re: insurance

Hi,

The only problem you may find with Asda, Tesco etc is that god forbid, if they get something like diabetes or arthritis or any ongoing condition these companies will not pay out after the first year, with Petplan they do.

Just something to be aware of

Re: insurance

My friend works in a vets and she said when it comes to insurance - the one they have the least problems with is Petplan - they are quick and no hassle even though they are more expensive. She did say that M&S were pretty good too.

We used Tesco car insurance a few years back - NEVEREVER AGAIN. They were an absolute nightmare.

Re: insurance

I insure my cats with NFU because I know the people that run our local office and the other staff they know you personally when you ring up no crappy call centre and they are brilliant when you need them to pay out, i would never insure with anyone else.

Re: insurance

I have Bilbo insured through Argos - they have a few options and one does include lifetime cover for a great deal less than pet plan. Have no experience of claiming though so can't comment on that bit. Jemima has had to stay on pet plan as she was diagnosed with Calci(maybe not how its spelt!) virus whilst on her free 6 weeks and if we change new policy won't cover.

Re: insurance

Apparently E&L are the worst insurers for paying up.

I'm with Sainsburys who were about £5 cheaper a month than anyone else but I did get a discount as my dog is with them too.

read the fine print very well... then if it's still the same policy for a 1/3 of the price ring Petplan back and tell them. They may offer you a better or same offer for their policy. I have to admit Petplan is the best cover out there for getting your money's worth. You would be very lucky to find better coverage.

Re: insurance

Thanks everyone. No point in calling petplan again as they put me through to 2 people last week including a supervisor who said i'd already been given a 5% discount so they couldn't lower it anymore.
