Bedroom Window

Has any one's cat jumped out of a bedroom window before?
My daughter left her bedroom window open and Millie run in her bedroom and jumped out of the window. My daughter came hurtling downstairs to tell me and we ran outside and Millie was just stood at the conservatory door. We have no grass, paving slabs and stones.
We have checked her all over thoroughly and she is fine. No limping, no scratches. We checked all her legs and paws and she didn't cry out in pain or anything.
God, I could have cried.

Re: Bedroom Window

Keep an eye on her just in case your sixth sense kicks in that things are not quite right.

Cats are built for height drops - their bones can absorb greater shocks than a human's.

Re: Bedroom Window

Mai Tai jumped out of our bathroom window the other week, onto grass, with no ill effects - she bolted down the garden and vanished into the field behind the house. We don't let her in the bathroom when the window is open now. It took about twenty minutes to get her back and it involved climbing an earth bank and fighting through a field hedge

Re: Bedroom Window

awh yay that your baby seems to be unhurt and a big hug for your daughter! she must have been so scared!

maybe it is worth getting cat netting for the upstairs windows? that way no repeat performance. Mosquito Netting is goot too! keeps cats in and bugs out, so double bonus

Re: Bedroom Window

After checking outside, my hubby found a little paw print on the conservatory roof, so it looks like Millie jumped on there first which isn't much of a drop from window. Normally upstairs I have the windows opened but locked if that make sense, they open very slightly but have a locking mechanism on them so they cannot be pushed open. My daughter only came home in January so I don't think she realized, bless her.
Anyway, Millie is fine and didn't show any effects of being hurt. The little tinker her.dawn 047.jpg

Re: Bedroom Window

Well, if you make it any upstairs window then yes - three cats have done it. One did it with a whole litter of kittens, one after the other, coming in for each one through an in-only cat flap. She took the whole litter over into the allotment behind our house. I know it sounds hard to believe and I did not actually see her do it but no-one else was in the house and no other windows were open.

I saw one of my girls do the same jump when seven weeks pregnant and carrying seven kittens - now that was frightening! And I had a ten week old kitten do it, he was sitting on the windowsill calling to me when I was out in the garden and then he just jumped. I was rather surprised!

In all cases the cats were fine.

I know the little imps. I was eating my tea as well, as expected I couldn't finish it, so that went in the bin. She is fine though, panic over!!
