Red face Cat Questions!!

Hi
I am relatively new to the cat world - we started with one cat last May and now have three!! I really adore them and think I am becoming a bit boring - i.e. showing people pics of the cats rather than the kids!!!!
i am fascinated as to how cats inherit their markings. All my cats are moggies, two came from one litter. Toby is a ginger and white tabby and Binx is long haired black but his ruff is a lighter colour. Their mum was pure white with blue eyes (don't know about Dad!) but both have orange eyes. Tiggy came from a farm and has a tiny bit of ginger tabby marking, loads of spotty tabby markings, bit like the Bengal type marking and white! I just find it really interesting. I look at Binx and think he may have a bit of Norwegian Forest in him, and Tiggy a bit of Bengal (after looking at all the great pics / sites on here!! Does anyone else wonder how far back their genetic make up works or is it just sad old me!!!
