Brothers?

Hi there

I on the hunt for 2 boy kittens and I'm trying to make sure I do as much as I can to give them a good life.

The next question I have is, for 2 (neutered) boys to live happily together is it best if they are brothers or does it not really matter?

I would really like 2 moggies of different colour but it's not really really important. Finding 2 boys from the same litter that are different colours reduces my chances... however if it is better they are brothers I will happily take 2 the same.

Just looking at my options, with the cat's best interest at the forefront.

Thanks heaps

Heather

Re: Brothers?

Ive had male kittens/cats that are not related live quite happily together. So it should be no problem whatsoever if they are not brothers.

Re: Brothers?

Hi,
Two male kittens the same age would work well if bought at the same time. Neuter early so you don't have hormones kicking off that can effect the relationship between them.

Good luck in your search.

Izzie

Re: Brothers?

I have 2 male cats (neutered) who came to me at different times at different ages... Indy came first then when he was 7 months old I got Misha, then 10 weeks old (ish)... you could not get 2 cats more different! Misha is fluffy short haired, Indy is sleek, Misha tabby + white... Indy - black and white, Misha noisy and food orientated... Indy quieter and prefers play to food

Despite their differences and the fact that when we got Misha he was a *lot* smaller than Indy they are now inseperable... grooming and playing and pretend-fighting constantly and having a whale of a time... if you take one anywhere you better take the other otherwise they fret for each other.

Re: Brothers?

Previous owner of my 2 kitten boys just had the one then realised maybe he was lonely and 3 weeks later got another one. The original one had the squits for a few days (but then a lot of things trigger off his sensitivity) and they are fine. They were bother fixed a few months back. Things started to get quite sexual between them (shagging a lot) and neutering stopped that dead. They play fight, but not a day goes by when they don't wash each other, call for each other, or cuddle with paws around each other and sleep like that. One of them does like pink things a lot though so maybe that's why they get along so well. But yeah, they seem totally fine.

Re: Brothers?

Thanks everyone, that's good to know as I keep hearing of kittens going where they have one male and the rest female. It's meant I've shied away from having just the male but if I get them both fairly close together they should be fine

Great!!! I can't wait to get kittens!!!!
