My 5 month old kitten, Millie, has just been spayed today.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas to stop her from licking/biting the wound. She's got on of those collars that should stop her from reaching the area but it ain't working!!

May be collar is not big enough? But if it is bothers(itchy?) her too much - might be a bit of inflammation going on.

Hi i had my 2 year old spayed two weeks b4 xmas,she could reach her wound aswell,luckily it healed up well despite her running about to much.Her wound was underneath her stomach.

clean wound with salt water, ive got a cone if you want it? k

Thanks for the replies peeps, Millie's back to her mental self now that she's got the cone/collar off.
She managed to lick the external stitch out whilst we were sleeping but the internal stitching held her together just fine.

Roughly how long does the bald patch around the wound take to grow back?

The collar must be too big, try changing the notch on the collar to a smaller one, that should work because if they get at the stitches they will pull them right our, my cat was the same!

Think the rate of fur regrowth depends. My hairy Moggie's bald spot took about 2 months to growth completely! But my Siamses took about a month!
