Yeah too true! I've read up on all the reasons the vet said not to feed it and non of them seem good reasons. When I've searched for arguements not to feed it on the net they all seem very weak arguments, most don't even make any logical sense!! I'm going for it!

They've had beef mince tonight and that went down a treat too! They're more into than the dog! Just gonna feed it alongside the dried and wet stuff we are feeding atm (hills i/d) until that runs out and then go all raw!

Hopefully it will help with some of the problems they've got!

Thanks for the info Katherna!!!

I feed all my cats raw and they love it, we grind up chicken in a grinder for them because the bone element is very important in the diet not just the meat. They have one meal a day of the roughly ground meat and then normally a wing or neck for the other meal so that they are cleaning their teeth and exercising their jaws. We also feed rabbit and fish when we can get it. They do not have any veg with it though.

Thanks, I was wondering how I was gonna get them to eat bones! Do yours actually eat whole wing bones? At the moment I'm just giving the chicken meat.

Yes they do, some do it straight away and others just pick the meat off the bone but they soon get used to it.

Alan red raw meat is fine, but i wouldn't give my cats raw white meat-basic rule of thumb if it's white meat overcook, red meat as you like-i apply this when feeding my cats as otherwise you risk upset tummy'sI wouldn't give your cats a raw chicken bone either-can be dangerous,as above and of course remove any offbeat little bones.

I won't be cooking any meat for them, its a natural raw diet I want to feed.

Why can raw chicken bones be dangerous?

i heared that chicken bones were dangerous too and shouldnt be given to dogs either as they splinter easily ans can become a choking hazard, and raw ones can cause upset stomoch in cats as well as the choking hazard

Chicken bones are only dangerous to dogs if they are cooked, not sure about cats? Not heard anything against giving them to cats before now!

Re: Natural Raw Food Diet

They can choke on them, and if raw i think it's dangerous because of E-Coli and Salmonella etc, i may be factly wrong but i stick to this rule so then i am sure,as though i can and do a great and varied menu for all our cats i am no kitchen expert-some would sayDStick with raw red meat unless your factly told otherwise

They can choke on kibble and you've got to think they go out and catch stuff and eat the bones, well mine do anyway. Im not sure about e.coli and salmonella, I know dogs have a whole digestive system designed to kill stuff like that but I dunno about cats. I still wouldn't cook it though. I read a piece of research done on cats around about 1960, where they fed just cooked meat and within 3 generations they couldnt reproduce. Doesn't seem good to me!

Maybe I'll just stick to the red meats but that doesn't seem so natural to me! Ooooo its so confusing!
