it is a hard situation but I would be tempted to resolve the problems and keep my cat. You have had him for ten years didn't you say? that is an awful long time.

We tried absolutely everything (that was humane) to put the neighbours cats off. They are madly bold. They even come in at night and scavenge our bins and we have the dog now.
They come in and spray too.
I think i had been ignoring it thinking it was all ok because ultimately i don't want to give him up but i am now worried about him (which is the main thing).
I just wonder if he disappeared for a few days, was hurt or ill if they would just think he had come back here and not bother looking for him. If he was ill would they think it was their place to take him to the vet, i doubt it and i wouldn't know. He has had a cat bite before that gave him blood poisoning and it was terrifying how quickly he went downhill, we nearly lost him then and i would feel awful if something like that happened again.
These people obviously look after him, he looks well and i had told them a while back not to encourage him but i know how persuasive he can be
I could bring him home keep him in and establish him with the dog and then next doors cats could just drive him out again.
Just want to put my feelings aside and do what's best for him
