Litter Odour

I use Oko Plus, one tray for 2 boys (always been this way). It is cleaned out regularly, min once a day, often twice. The problem I have is they do eye watering smelling turds Gagsome most of the time. You can smell it as soon as it's been laid. Is there something, like powder, I can add to the litter to counteract the smell?

Re: Litter Odour

I've got a glade air freshner plug in right above the litter tray, set at level 3. Sometimes it needs to be upped to level 5 its that bad even with a "scented litter" and the power that goes in the litter to make it small nice.

Unfortunately sometimes you just can't win the smell fight.

Re: Litter Odour

I use covered trays and wooden litter and it works a treat, one tray is even by a radiator and is fine

Another thing is 2 boys sharing a single tray may sometimes not bury it properly, it is a dominance thing, so maybe a second tray would help?

Re: Litter Odour

What are they eating? Could be their food causing the smell. Felix is renowned for smelly poos

Re: Litter Odour

I wanna stick with Oko Plus due to the flushability and clumping of it if I can help it.

Re: Litter Odour

I use Benevo and never have a pong problem but I think that it is very similar to the Oko Plus so probably wouldn't make any difference. It is flushable, clumping and biodegradable though.

Re: Litter Odour

try sprinkling bicarbonate of soda into the litter ( a couple of teaspoons worth should do) - it is a natural odour neutraliser and not scented - and you probably have some in your baking cupboard.

I tried the Bob Martin one and it made Henry sneeze...
