Flea Treatment Which One to Buy

Hi all,

I wanted to know which flea treatment which can be put onto the back of the neck on our cat is good and which one to get for each month and which ones not to use. I was treating her with the monthley spot thing from the vets that treated flea and worm which we use to get but now i am out of work i am having to look at a cheaper option that does the same as the vet one was somethng like £25 for 3 months worth

Many Thanks
Chris

Re: Flea Treatment Which One to Buy

I have heard it's best not to buy flea treatment, from pet shops because they can be toxic - which is obviously lethal. I think it's best if you stick with going to your vets and getting the flea treatment instead....

I don't do neither my cats or dogs in the winter months, my first applicastion is around march/ april - my last octoberish and I havn't seen a flea yet - I use frontline which I get from the vet, but you can also get from the chemist or online now. Maybe if you could 'extend' your applications it would save you some money.

My vets used to use Frontline, but now they use Stronghold because it treats / prevents ear mites as well as fleas.

Stronghold is available only with prescription and is a bit more expensive.

I use advocate for Jasper as it does fleas and worms too. My mum only uses flea collars for hers and they never have fleas. You'll still have to buy a worming treatement from the vets though which aren't all that cheap I don't think.

Re: Flea Treatment Which One to Buy

I tend to use frontline But i HAVE to use a flea collar also with our youngest cat because frontline doesnt do a good enough job with him.

He had really bad fleas last yr because of going to and fro to the vets twice a week for 9months thankfully now hes home its got better and just front line will do the job!
