Big female kitten attacking smaller male kitten.

Hey Everyone,

Got a little bit of a problem

About 3 weeks ago we got Kitty (shes a female tabby), we recently found out that her brother was for sale and seeing as she was going to be spayed we thought it would be nice to have her brother living with her. We brought Bo (male tabby) home yesterday and ever since Kitty has just been attacking him (she doesn't realise thats her brother!).

Bo was fed purely on GoCat and is so much smaller than Kitty (they're the same age). Bo doesn't seem to have a problem, it's just Kitty keeps hissing, biting and pawing him and he cant defend himself because hes slower and smaller.

Kitty has even started attacking us now

What to do?

Cat sometimes get more aggressive when ill. You should bring it to the vet...

They were both checked up today, the only thing wrong was he had fleas and had to be de-flead.

Re: Big female kitten attacking smaller male kitten.

It's behaviour due to another cat in the house x

try some feliway and try more positive meetings between them - treats and toys can work well x

she'll settle once she realises she has to deal with it x

You cannot expect every cat to just get on with another, doesn't work like that - you need time to let them work it out x

Just intervene if she gets too rough x

She didn't have fleas, only he did, and he was treated today.

They are both around 3 and half months old and will be neutered/spayed around 5months old.

I will give it another couple of days, before I try feliway

I doubt the cat is ill, its a very standard reaction for a cat to have , she should hopefully adjust in time, male cats are far more inquisitive with new cats than females (well I have always found that to be the case)

They will love each other in a month or so i'm sure, my female used to rule the roost but due to a massive growth spurt on morrissey's account she is getting two years worth of payback these days!

Hi Joote,

Inquisitive in what way as i am looking at getting a male from the rspca but my indoor cat at home is also male and they are both about the same age.
