Question how does he know ?

how does bracken know when my alarm is about to go off in the mornings, he always pre empts it by about two minutes

i can understand roughly he knows how long im going to be inbed but to start burbing around me two minutes (or thereabouts, i check the time) before the alarm goes off, how does he know ?

also, can cats see in the dark and is their hearing as good as dogs ?

Re: how does he know ?

cats can see very well in the dark, renowned for it even, and their hearing is even better than many dogs, as they are solitary hunters at dusk they need a lot more finess than a dog, genetically designed to work together as a group, stealth less important (very important but not in same way as a cat...) and they hunt more in daylight hours than at dawn/dusk

Cats know alot about humans, especially if you've had them for a long time.

Yeah, I think cats are a well known pet for being able to see in the dark. They also have a good hearing, they can hear things better than us humans....

I know how you feel. Patch does exactly the same to us. I think they have super sonic hearing so they here you stirring before its time to wake up therefore getting in before the alarm clock. Maybe its time to get rid of the alarm clock and rely on the cat clock instead.

Re: how does he know ?

I think they get into good routines. Waffles is always waiting for me when my alarm goes off and at the weekend if I lay in for an extra hour she is so odd and out of sorts.

Waffles has really good hearing. If I am home alone with her she will suddenly prick her ears up and I go silent trying to hear - scares me to be honest lol

Re: how does he know ?

My cats are always there to welcome me - they hear the car.

Yes, I think you most give off signals that even you are not aware of when waking up. Maybe even smells - cats have 30 times more acute sense of smell than we do

Re: how does he know ?

every animal has an internal clock, even my rats know our routine, they're up in the morning the same time we are for morning scritches and the cats get very upset if we have a day off and they don't get let out the kitchen at 9.20 in the morningk, they seem to know when its' the weekend.

the cats also know the sounds of all of our cars (we have 4) and get especially excited when 'daddy' comes home they run to the front door if they're inside to greet him, or 'appear' near our cars when we've parked (usually up on the fence on our drive).

as for vision:
What About Cats - cat vision

cats sense of smell is 14 times more powerful than ours:
