Re: absalutely gutted

Just curious - do you breed; if you don't is there any reason why you haven't had them spayed? Is your girl microchipped? If she has been on call then she may come back looking smug. If she does and then has kittens it may be worth having her blood tested afterwards to ensure she hasn't picked anything nasty up from wandering toms.

I sincerely hope she returns.

That's so sad - people just don't think sometimes. I do hope she returns.

Re: absalutely gutted

HI,

No i dont breed although i have thought about it on the odd ocasion when we move into our own house and have the space for a real breeding program.

The queen who is missing now tho is one from a litter we had around 2 years ago who bred with one of our toms under our christmas tree...infront of our little boy ....we had both mother and daughter and after the litter we had the mother spayed..she went missing last month in the same circumstances.

We havnt had her spayed as we live in an open plan house and dont even have a door on our bedroom at the min (rented house and land lady is so slack)...so we dont want her to be spayed as she has nowhere to hide from the kids. Weve never had a problem until the OH decided he wanted his sleep and just let her out......shes been gone all day now and im gutted.....i just dont think i can cope with losing another cat

Re: absalutely gutted

Well, it certainly sounds as if she was calling, and as such you might well find that she comes back.

As for not having her spayed because of the kids, I really don't see that you've got much choice unless you are going to have litters twice a year every year. Cats aren't like dogs, they will just keep calling and calling - at increasingly frequent intervals - until they get a mate.

Liz

Re: absalutely gutted

She will bounce back from spaying very quickly, it is much fairer to her than leaving her entire. She will eventually start to spray and scentmark in your home, and she is at risk of pyometra and mammary cancers Also, if she does come home and her noise becomes inconvenient again will she be let out again? In the warmer weather she could call every two weeks, and will become increasingly frustrated. It may well affect her temperament.
I hope she comes home soon.

Re: absalutely gutted

I hope your cat comes back. Should have done the responsible thing and her neutered like everyone else! She wouldn't have been so desperate to get out then and causing havoc for your partner to sleep.

Re: absalutely gutted

breeding program????
is she pedigree?
I would really not start a breeding program if she isnt, I mean i would LOVE to breed my moggie again for friends or family who want one of her kittens but thanks to some sense being talked into me on here i am not doing it!
Plus if shes been with a local tom you could be bringing very poorley kittens into the world

Re: absalutely gutted

I am sorry your cats have gone missing, but I think, at the risk of being unkind, that you should look closer to home to find someone to blame.

Your story is sad, but it is not one which demonstrates a high level of responsible ownership.

Sorry if that offends you, but I suspect - and hope - others will agree.
