You may already know about this.
I received this email today and thought everyone should know about this awful thing that has happened ![]() PLEASE KEEP YOUR EYES AND EARS OPEN FOR ANY NEWS THAT COULD HELP RECOVER THESE CATS Thank you! May. Just heard that 12, maybe 13 Norwegian Forest Cats have been stolen from the Chelkesi cattery in the Darwen area of Lancashire last night. Their owner was out for a few hours in the evening babysitting for her daughter - when she came back, all of the cat pens were empty. Only one oldie in the house is left.... Maureen lives by herself and is obviously devastated. Please pass this message on to as many cat friends as you can to raise awareness - the cats may start appearing on the internet/local papers/Loot etc. - I'm hoping it's not something more sinister.

Re: Stolen
No they are not chipped
. Which alas makes the chances of getting them back much more remote, nothing the vets can do. ALWAYS get your cats chipped even if they are supposed to be indoor cats, you never know what might happen. I wondered in this case, whether it really was a case of theft - it would take a lot of organisation moving a dozen cats without being seen, it would need someone to be keeping a watch on the house to tip off the thief, and it would need someone to have somewhere to put the cats once stolen. But then none of the cats have turned up, and if they had merely been let out surely some would have been seen by now. Liz |

Re: Stolen
I'm still looking for a cat I bred that was stolen in Surrey in November. She is chipped but I wonder if a microchip is atwo edged weapon? My cat also had a collar with all her details on and also the fact that she is microchipped and my concern is that whoever now has her won't take her to the vet in case she is checked for a chip.
Until we can get a tiny microchip that also gives the cat's location, all I can think of is to get Petlog to circulate photos of stolen animals to all vets on a regular basis. I know Petlog say that they advise registered vets within 30 miles as soon as they hear of an animal being stolen, but not all vets register for that service. Does anyone else have any ideas? I'm not against chipping - suppose your cat escapes or a burlgar breaks a window and the cat gets out? No, it's invaluable, but in cases of theft, I'm not so sure. |

Re: Stolen
Awwwww this makes me so sad, I feel sorry for anyone who loses any animal in any way, but this must be soo frustrating and maddening.
All you can hope really is that these cats will all go to loving homes when they a bought up. I'm sure they will. |
