Question Which Breed For Me?

Hi all

I was hoping that I could get some information about cat breeds that would be most suitable for me.
I've not had a cat since my childhood but I'm looking in to getting one.

I don't work as I am disabled so I am usually home a lot, though sometimes I do travel to visit friends, my other half and I go to a festival or two in the summer.
So I'm away now and then but I do not live alone.
I'd like a breed that prefers to be in the house and is affectionate (I know cats will vary).

I guess those are the basics.
I do love the look of Ragdolls but I read they shed a lot and too much shedding would be an issue in this house.

Any ideas/help/tips etc would be most welcome

As I said, I read that Ragdolls shed a lot, and I don't mind a little but a lot is not great for me at this moment.

Re: Which Breed For Me?

We have a Maine Coon and a Siberian - both affectionate and intelligent breeds. I keep their shedding down with grooming.

Re: Which Breed For Me?

Does anyone on the boards have a Ragdoll? I do love them, but yes, I have heard that they can shed too much.
Or can this be controlled with proper grooming?
