My kitten is weeing all over the house

Hello,
I got a new kitten (male) a month ago, I already have two cats (both female) and am introducing them gradually. The kitten is now just over 4 months old.
The kitten seems to have no fear and happily rushes around, stalks one of the cats and jumps on her in fun, she isn't amused and hisses but the other cat is fine with him.
I keep the kitten in tanother room some of the time so that they're not together full time.
The problem I am having, is that he doesn't tend to use his litter tray, instead choosing to wee and poo on a towel, a duvet, sheets, anything else to hand, even when his box is totally clean.
He did this even before meeting my other two cats.
I'm not sure what to do, have you any advice please?

Re: My kitten is weeing all over the house

I used to put my kitten in her litter tray first thing in the morning and last thing at night. She always jumped straight out she got the hang of it and only had one accident. When you see the kitty is about to or has just been to the toilet pick him up an dput him in the tray and then he will start to get the message.
I also used to put my kitty in the tray after she ate and drank too.
Could you also try picking up some of the poop and putting it into the tray? So that he can follow his scent. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply WittyKitty.
Nothing seems to work, I put him in his tray after a meal but he just jumps out again, he seems to wait until I'm out of the room to poo where he's not supposed to.
I've tried putting his poo in the litter tray and showing him but nothing seems to make a difference.
Sometimes he will use the tray and I give him lots of praise but it doesn't happen often enough.
This has been going on for a month now, I just don't know what to do.
He also treads in his poo sometimes and doesn't clean his foot.

Re: My kitten is weeing all over the house

Would it be worth a trip to the vets then? Maybe your kitty has a little infection?

The only other thing I would suggest is that since you have only had the new kitty for a month would it not be worth isolating him in one room with his litter until he realises what he has to do with it? that might be the next thing I would try.

Also, could he be spreading his scent because he is living with two females?

I wonder if your kitten doesn't lke the litter you're using. if he's finding soft places to go perhaps the litter is hard on his little paws. Try something softer, woodpellets or recycled paper. I use Benevo which is a plant fibre based litter and is quite soft as I think Oko plus is but they are both quite expensive. have look at zooplus, they do a large range of litter and they deliver quite reasonably too.Pet Supplies, Pet Food, and Pet Products on Sale Now at zooplus.co.uk
