Re: what breeds...

cats are in general out door creatures. its natural for them to love the outside world. the rescue centre said to us when we adopted norman that we could only have him if he was let outside, so i am having a little trouble believeing that so many breeders are forcing their new pets owners to keep their new pets indoors.
i do agree tho that it is down to personal choice. when i was growing up we had a few cats that were lost due to a car accident, and it is a terrible thing to have to go through, but surly their quality of life was better than a cat thats been forced to live indoors its whole life. they used to love going out and used to bring us prezzies back.
in our house, we have 2 cats and norman the youngesty adores going out. we live in a very quiet close so i dont mind letting him out, but as we dont have a cat flap atm its only when were out in the garden. on the other hand our oldest cat danny, is scared of the outside world, and growls at the door when he sees it open, so i know he is very very happy to be an indoor cat

Re: what breeds...

I don't believe in keeping birds in cages and keeping a cat indoors all the time to me is the same. If I didn't live in a safe place I wouldn't have a cat.

The lady who did born free (can't think of her name) once said she would rather polar bears became extinct than to see them in zoos. Just the way I feel about animals

My friends cat I don't think even knows she's allowed indoors both her and the dogs are rarely allowed inside and Cola vanishes for weeks at a time. To me thats not having a pet.

Re: what breeds...

I let my tortoise shell out but she only goes as far as the garden and then she's straight back in. She only needs to hear a noise and it scares her to death I didn't used to let her out though, scared of someone stealing her or hitting her with a car.
