Re: 3rd missing cat
if i was you i would put up posters and pictures of your cats, saying that your cats are missing, or even go knock on the nieghbours door and ask if they have your cat, and if they do ask them politley NOT to feed your cats or let them in, as they are not coming home and you and your family are very upset and missing them badly,

Re: 3rd missing cat
Although I symphaize with yo uwe once ended up with a cat this way - and also almost a cat this way to our next door neighbour, cats seem to go where they want they choose their home and a cat flap can be encouraging. That was how a cat came us once - we had a falp and the cat used to come in initially and steal our cats food - it anoyed us at first and we tried to discourage it - but it still kept coming back.
Our old cat - we almost lost him before we moved - we wpould come home and he would be sitting in next doors kitchen window (to our embasassment) - the guy used to work long hours, and although he had two cats of his own they got on wonderfully with my cat - he used to come home - but he prefered being next door - when we moved obviously the problem went away - that cat happily lived with us until his final days at almost 20 years old. Yeah im going to make up some posters today, i have asked loads of neighbours too, im sure they think im a loon now as every other week im asking them about a different cat. The last one to go missing is a pure white beautiful queen, not pedigree but lovely anyway, so im sire someone has wanted to keep her and convinced themselves she is homeless.

Re: 3rd missing cat
Hi ,
Can i ask a question ? do your cats wear collars ? the reason i ask is i had a problem a while go with 2 of my rescue cats ( not the ones i have now though ) that the women 6 doors down was feeding them and keeping them in her house because they lost their collars with the id tag on ... even though they were microchipped she didn"t bother to have them scanned to find out i eventually got them back after a fight .. I just hope you don"t have the same problem as i had fingers crossed ![]()

Re: 3rd missing cat
Are your cats microchipped? If not then if either of the other two come back then I would do that first and also put a collar on them - you could also put a little note in the collar to say the cats DO have a home already and no-one should feed them! Also should either of the first two appear I would keep them in for a week or two to get used to being at home again.
I am sorry your third cat is missing. Have you phoned your local vets and cat shelters to see if she has been handed in. If you could stretch to a small reward that may encourage people to keep an eye out. Finally it may be worth you considering not letting your cats roam so freely - is it possible you could make your garden cat proof so they cannot get out or provide a small cat pen/run. I know I could not live with the heartache of the cats constantly going missing; I would be beside myself as I am sure you are. I do hope you get them all back.

Re: 3rd missing cat
HI,
IM worried about my cats wearing collars, ive got hundreds of the things but feel they may get caught. When they went missing for days i put one on when they both came back and they came back without them...infact my long haired tom came running in with someone elses on ![]() I tryed keeping them in for days infact kept one i for 2 months then i finally gave in to let him out as he wasnt all that good sharing a litter tray with other cats and thats when he went again...im sure it comes down to the flap issue and that we have a collie dog who chases them everytime they leave the house or try to get in and im sure this bothers them....infact im sure that is how i lost my first cat a few years ago as we had to have him PTS with a tail pulling injury...im sure the dog may have grabbed his tail as he jumped over the fence. Im gong to ring round all the rescue centres again tomorrow and see if i have any luck. Then i will put up some posters.

may be worth a white lie about microchip on posters...
.....When a friend of mine lost his dog he put on the poster that the dog was micro-chipped (even though she wasn't), and needed a specialist diet/medication (also a white lie), and the person who had taken the pup in returned it on the day the poster went up - thay had had the dog in their house around the corner without reporting it as 'found' to the agencies for 2 days!!!!

Re: 3rd missing cat
Is there any way you could confine your collie to another part of the house to stop him from frightening off the cats as really unless you resolve this issue your cats are going to continue to disappear. I appreciate it would be difficult but you must see this will be a continuous problem unless you can sort out the issue of the pooch - I think that your cats by going awol are trying to tell you there is a problem here - especially more worrying when you mentioned you think the collie may have caused the injury to your cat that had to be PTS. You are obviously a very caring owner and I know the dog is just following his instincts but perhaps you need to think of ways of keeping him away from the cats so they can come and go safely in their own home.
I do sincerely hope you find your cat/(s).
