Kitten weeing on sofabed - why?

We've had him since Christmas and this is the first time he's weed anywhere other than the litter tray (he's 11 weeks). Why would he do this - do you think he's started trying to mark his territory or was it probably just an accident?

He might have just had an accident, if i where you id just keep him off the sofa bed now to stop him re doing it. I dont think he would be mature enough at 11 weeks to mark things like that.

Just seems odd for him to have an accident like that! Unfortunately the sofa bed is in the dining room which is his main 'home'. It's right next to the litter tray - annoyingly. Might have to get something to cover it with just in case he has another! Am dubious about letting him on my bed tonight now, although he's been ok up till now.

one of my kittens at christmas did a poo on my bed and then had a pee, while doing this my child was shouting for me and he is quite funny about bad things and he started to vomit all over the floor, i bet you would have loved to have seen my face
the kitten has never done it since and is very good now as he will go to the litter tray thankgod.

One of ours does their business on our bed when they decide their favourite litter tray isn't as clean as they would like it. Now I make sure the litter in that particular tray is always nice and fresh but it took a few times before I made the connection.

It's quite common, alas, for kittens to decide to pee on your bed - seems to be something to do with your smell they do grow out of it!

Hmmm the litter tray was ready for changing - perhaps that was it?

It has now been cleaned out and refilled so he has no excuse tonight.

It's not my bed he peed on - it's the futon we use for guests - oops!

Unfortunately my older cat has just started doing this and we have no idea why....my husbands just phoned to say she's done it again this morning.

Its costing us a fortune in Duvets!!
