Re: Knots in long haired cats

Harry seemed to get a load of little knots the day after his bath. I usually talc them after i've finished blowdrying but didnt this time and I think that is what has caused it. Now I've got a major job on trying to tease them all out. I think talc really does help in keeping the tangles away. I use either Johnsons baby unscented or pure natural talc.

Hi,

I have never tried talc, I have heard good things about it though, will have to see if we can get it over here lol. You would be amazed what you can't get in Switzerland lol.

I have found with my boys if I can just keep them nice and calm grooming is a doddle, we have one that hates the baths though, he wets himself so we try and do it as quickly as possible. I have only shown him twice because of that reason. Luckily he doesn't get too greasy which helps

Do you show your cats?

Izzie
Yeah thats Toots my little baby. xxx

Re: Knots in long haired cats

Hiya

I've got both rakes shown - the metal one is very good, but is a bit big for the undercarriage and legs - the smaller (all black) mikki one is good for that

I also have the mikki matt master which works well if you need to 'thin out' the hair between seasons it seems to take out undercoat well, and is easy to use - no knife-like edges either

Audrey is exactly the same! I've even booked her in at the vets to be clipped where these matts are, but now i'm wondering whether to have a go at getting them out myself??

Aud's knots are on her belly and between her back legs, and her 'armpits' lol!

Yes exactly the same as Toots, its a nightmare getting to them i try do it sneaky, be giving her a big fuss then gradually trying to undo them its only recently that she is getting them, i think its because her coat is so thick at the moment. xxx
