sexing a kitten

I have inherited a female tabby who was preggers when I first got her, she delivered 3 kits 2 of which have been rehomed with my son and his wife and one which Ive kept. I thought it was a female but now not so sure as the mum is now trying to get the kitten to mate with her. The kitten is now almost 10 weeks old. So I think it may be a male as the mum would surly not try to get a female to mate with her?
Any thoughts on this?
I have added a pic of Winnies bits to my albums
thanks
Dawn

Re: sexing a kitten

Hi Ya. Kitten does look male, but difficult to say 100% as it's fuzzy.
If he's 10 weeks, I doubt he'd manage to do much. You could get her speyed now though, that would minimize an unwanted pregnancy

He's too young to be able to do anything anyway (haven't look at pic yet though)

Re: sexing a kitten

Re: sexing a kitten

I was thinking of her getting pregnant anyway, if she's wanting to mate. Do you let her go outside ? Because she could potentially get pregnant again. Be better for her in the long run to get her speyed

Question Re: sexing a kitten

Okay, I'm going to ask the dumb question...How can you tell the difference between a male cat butt and a female one? Before I got my kitten a few months ago I read a book all about taking care of cats, and one section was about sexing kittens; it showed two different pictures, one of a male and one of a female, but both pictures look exactly the same to me!

Alansw8 will become famous soon enough
Re: sexing a kitten

If she has just had kittens and she is rubbing herself against the kitten she is probsbly coming back in season so the best thing is wait for this season to finish and get her speyed as its taking too much out of her to have another litter so soon as she should in my eyes and others only have one litter per year. but good luck on whatever you decide to do.
