Finally got our hands on little Dexter on the 26th of December!
Got him home from Doncaster after an hour drive (of which he slept most of) and showed him where the litter tray and food bowls were, then let him have the run of downstairs. Our two daughters (5 & 10) were at their grans for the day to let Dex settle in first!
He explored every little nook and cranny for hours. Our 15yo moggy, Sam was asleep upstairs, but came down to see what the fuss was all about. Let the hissing begin! We never had to seperate them but there has been some swiping and stalking going on. Poor Dex can't understand why the big cat won't play with him
I slept on the sofa with him the first night as he was pining for his littermates a bit. He slept under my chin the whole night ang kept stroking my face and whimpering, poor thing. Next morning he was fine and played with the girls and us all day (apart from the odd cat-nap)
Been with us over a week now and he is the most affectionate cat we have ever had. He loves to be carried around like a baby and will reach up and genty stroke your face and always greets you with a sloppy kiss and a good head rub. Although my hands look like chopped liver, as I play rough with him, he has not scratched the girls yet. I also caught both cats on the same bed yesterday, so relations are improving!
Coonies are everything we dreamed of and are quite bonkers
