Dexter is here!

Finally got our hands on little Dexter on the 26th of December!

Got him home from Doncaster after an hour drive (of which he slept most of) and showed him where the litter tray and food bowls were, then let him have the run of downstairs. Our two daughters (5 & 10) were at their grans for the day to let Dex settle in first!

He explored every little nook and cranny for hours. Our 15yo moggy, Sam was asleep upstairs, but came down to see what the fuss was all about. Let the hissing begin! We never had to seperate them but there has been some swiping and stalking going on. Poor Dex can't understand why the big cat won't play with him

I slept on the sofa with him the first night as he was pining for his littermates a bit. He slept under my chin the whole night ang kept stroking my face and whimpering, poor thing. Next morning he was fine and played with the girls and us all day (apart from the odd cat-nap)

Been with us over a week now and he is the most affectionate cat we have ever had. He loves to be carried around like a baby and will reach up and genty stroke your face and always greets you with a sloppy kiss and a good head rub. Although my hands look like chopped liver, as I play rough with him, he has not scratched the girls yet. I also caught both cats on the same bed yesterday, so relations are improving!

Coonies are everything we dreamed of and are quite bonkers

Aw the face stroking.. I remember that.. Mikah doesn't do it as often as she did when I first got her.. But she did last night.. and it made me realize I really need to give her nails a trim!

Re: Dexter is here!

Hi,
He is so gorgeous, Im glad its going so well as Lou said, they are addictive I bet you want another one within six months of getting Dexter lol!

Glad he is getting on with your other cat. Be careful with the rough play as he may accidently scratch your girls and you want him as soppy as possible. My boys love feather ticklers and little mice, but they are equally happy with a ball of scrunched up paper to chase.

Looking forward to lots more pics.

Izzie

Re: Dexter is here!

lovely to read your post and Ian and see the pictures of Dexter now he is really yours. So glad he's settled in - got you all firmly under the paw by the sounds of it lol.
Mai Tai doesn't understand why Gizmo won't play with her either - she loves stalking him and pouncing on his tail! He just huffs and walks off now.
