Cat shock

Has anyone had a cat get a shock or been killed by chewing cables. Christmas lights worry me as my kitten has already destroyed one set of lights.

Re: Cat shock

Can you not put something round it to stop her getting at it?

Re: Cat shock

Try coating them with bitter apple (think Pets at Home have it) or something equally revolting but not harmful but cats.

Re: Cat shock

my rat once chewed thru christmas lights (while they were on) and didnt die.
my cats don't get in the room with the tree when we're not there, and they get sprayed with water if they go near it

Re: Cat shock

There is curly plastic like what binds some reports which you can get from B&Q or similiar - it is intended to group cables together so you don't have a spaghetti mess but it would also protect against chewing

Re: Cat shock

Hesper has chewed through a set of our low voltage LED lights with no ill effects. They were hung round a door frame and i thought well out of her way but nope, she can jump higher than we thought.
