Re: Can anyone help with 2 kittens ASAP

can you not get a neighbour to come into your house just to check on them or look in the yellow pages for cat sitters in your area, as a last resort if you have time is to go to the pet shop get extra litter trays and timer food bowls and make sure they have lots of what they need.
i know its not ideal but surely it must be better than having to take them to a shelter to be put to sleep.

Re: Can anyone help with 2 kittens ASAP

Call up one of these pet sitting outfits, there are lots out there that will visit and feed the kittens.

Another idea, have your parents got a garage or shed? If so, get a kitten pen (a dog crate or something from pets at home will do) and put that in the garage, keep them in there, don't let your parents' cats anywhere near the garage and don't share food bowls, and wash your hands before handling your parents' cats. That should be perfectly safe. Or even leave them shut up in the car in such a crate! It's only four days after all.

Failing that, I agree, if it were me, as a very last resort I'd leave them shut in one room with lots of dry food and water and litter trays, having first made the room as safe as possible. That isn't likely to kill them, just don't tell the RSPCA you are doing it!

And once again, handing kittens with cat flu over to the RSPCA is simply a death sentence.

Liz

Re: Can anyone help with 2 kittens ASAP

I used a pet sitter while I was away and found it very reasonable. She charged me £30 for 4 visits and sent me text updates as required.

Be aware though some pie sitters may be reluctant to take them on due to the flu especially if they have other clients or cats of their own. I know with good hygeine they should be fine but they just might not want to risk it. I would phone round and check though.

Hope you find a suitable solution to this.

Re: Can anyone help with 2 kittens ASAP

I managed to beg my friend to take them, he seems to like them.
Ive still got the same problems when i get home. Im going to need to RSPCA to pay for the eye removal of the male kitten and the cats protection to pay for them to be neutured!
Then i ge the even better task of finding them new homes as both people have read up on cat flu on the internet so its all the scarey sights! And have all had an overload of information - so basically are freaked out
Im proberly going to have until after xmas now though.

I cant get over the RSPCA nd cats protection though - ask me to save 2 kitens then not do anything to help me - anyone got any tips?

Re: Can anyone help with 2 kittens ASAP

Ok I think what you need to do is ring round as many rescues as you can tell them your story and hope that one will take them on. Try these

Cat Rescue and Rehoming Shelters in Somerset, UK

Also post this on Purrs In Our Hearts - Cat Forum UK - Index
'Free to Good Home' forum helping needy pets (Invision Plus)
Rescue Helpers Unite

As these forums have alot of rescue people on and I would be surprised if there isn't one rescue on them that wouldn't help you
good luck

God this is such a dissapointment I'm not too suprised with the RSPCA to be honest but i thought the CPL would be more helpful, different district branches behave differently.

If you cant get any help from other tips I can contact head of rescue at my branch as i speak to her regulary anyway, its not in the bristol district but if she says she could help with vet bills ect we could perhaps get them to bristol to be covered.
My heart goes out to them!
