she tried to swim...

here i am, very scared and upset for my baby. shortly after midnight, me and oh relaxing and watching tv, abby outside playin like she always does before bedtime, when suddenly i hear her crying like never before. it took me about a second to realise that she'd fallen in the water. just to clarify, i live on a boat, and i knew this moment was coming sooner or later! ran out to rescue her, luckily she was sort of paddling around, the poor thing was pissed wet through. she seems ok now, still shaking a lot bu calming down. i was shocked too and in tears, luckily my oh was calmer and called the vet for me!

Lol! awww! I know I shouldn't laugh, but the image I had of this poor lil cat 'paddling around' bless her! Hope she's ok now, and all dry and warm

Re: she tried to swim...

Well, they can swim as you know, and hopefully she won't do it again. Just make sure that she is never allowed on the outer part of the boat unless you are within earshot.

Re: she tried to swim...

thank you for your messages! she's all back to normal, it was just a big shock for the both of us... i never let her out unless i'm near and i regularly check on her, and there's a nice big bush right next to the boat where she really loves to play, and i wouldn't want her to be locked inside all the time if she has the chance to go outside. Hopefully she'll be more careful now, but i'm still scared so for the next weeks i'm probably going to follow her everywhere when she's out!

Re: she tried to swim...

Poor kitty! I bet that was a shock to her and you! But as you say - living on a boat it was bound to happen. Glad she's ok and hopefully learned her lesson

Cats are surprisingly good swimmers.
