we picked up kylie a 2 year old cat, she is great with other cats and is veru placid and lovely.

we brought her home in a carrying box and as soon as poppy saw her , her eyes turned red and i swear her head started to spin,, she is having none of kylie despises her been in the house full stop, she even attacked the kids .
anyway kylie is in the safe room sleeping on my bed. and poppy is growling and spitting at everything.

help and advice would be very welcome .

Re: we went to the cat protection and...

Oh dear, I do some work for cats protection and this happened to another volunteer sadly the cat had to be returned to its foster home.
You should give it up to a week but dont feel guilty if things dont work out, at the end of the day even if you want to love them its not worth the stress and discomfort she might go through.

If you are really determand maybe try the plug in feliaway or something, they are quite pricey but i had one just for a month and it helped mine settle

Re: we went to the cat protection and...

try spraying both parties with catnip spray

putting chicken pate between their ears and on their paws then put both cats in the same room and watch

Ive done this everytime Ive had a rescue come in to the point one of my old moggies will attend voluntarily and stand to be pated!!!!

you could also give the cat with the attitude a time out in the carry box the other one came in with butter on her paws to keep her occupied while she gets used to the smell

Try rubbing in baby talc into both cats coats - particularly around the rear end and then brush out and reintroduce them. The theory behind this is that they should both smell the same.

Do expect too much too soon - hopefully in a few days they may be tolerating each other.

You could also try Feliway. Works wonders on bringing new cats into a house.
