Cabin Fever

So after Lily was bitten, the catflap has been in "in-only" mode, so the other two were only allowed out if we opened the door for them. They've been going stir crazy, up all over the work surfaces, sitting by the back door meowing loudly to go out. This morning I put the catflap back into normal "in-out" mode and they've now decided to wait for us to open the door for them! Even (shy but very clever) Jess demanded I open the door this morning, and has learnt that the jangle of keys means the door will soon be open. I'm hoping they figure out they can use the flap again today whilst we're out, otherwise "slave" will be more appropriate than ever!

I know some people have mentioned in the past that they've successfully turned outdoor cats in indoor cats, but these guys were climbing the walls with frustration in 24 hours. This might be why the rescue insisted we got a cat flap...

Re: Cabin Fever

Have you tried tieing the flap up for a few days so they will realise what it is for. After that leave it down and hopefully they will get the message.
p.s. Only leave it tied up when your happy for them to go in and out, all other times keep it closed and good luck

With the icy blast at the moment, they can stay inside a little longer...
