Re: Help
oh no she is only 7 weeks!
oh well she is in a great home with you ![]() i think it is a good idea putting her business back in the box so she knows, but as soon as you see her squatting, digging etc put her in her tray and gently grab her paw and sort of dig with it, then if she does it, give her a reat she should get the idea!!!!its great to hear she is settling in well!cant wait to see piccies!

Re: Help
I now i was very shocked to see that she is so young iv contacted the breeder and told her i wasn't happy but i ain't taking her back now the deeds done so to speak,
i feel really bad as iv had to leave her in the bathroom for now as iv gotta go out and she's crying i feel a right bully but am also thinking that while am out the time in there she might need to go potty and cause the litter tray is the only thing she can dig in that she might get the right idea but then cats/kittens always have different ideas to us humans lol iv tried the thing with her foot and she seems worried about the litter and tries to get out as fast as she can but then walks around the room crying, do you think it could be the feel of the litter she don't like and that newspaper on the bottom might be better for now?

Re: Help
I would give her several trays with different types of litter and keep a close eye on her. At that age they are not confidently litter trained, though they should know what a tray is for. Mind you it doesn't sound like the person you got her from put much effort in, so unlikely she would have taken time to litter train them. I find kittens prefer the woodchip litter as it is softer on their paws.
You might find she prefers a covered tray as she is insecure in her environment at the moment and probably wants privacy. I wouldn't use newspaper as she needs to learn that litter is the stuff to go in not paper. You can get litter attract cat litter that is supposed to tempt them to use a tray, I don't know if it works though. Best of luck ![]() |

Re: Help
Poor baby
It's mainly the Mum cat who litter trains her kittens, not the breeder, so I can only assume the breeder did not provide a suitable tray! ![]()

Re: Help
I'd let her out of the bathroom and just watch for the signs of her wanting to go (looking for a hiding place or scratching the floor for example) and plop her on the tray. I agree that it might not be in the right place for her, so I'd put it somewhere more 'private'. I'd also wash your bedding with biological powder so that she doesn't make any unfortunate associations with your cosy bed! x
