Bengals and classic tabbys

Looking at preloved on a regular basis I've noticed that people are advertising cats that look just like my classic tabby but they are wanting over £100 and claiming they are a Bengal or a Bengal x.

Is this a scam?

It's very naughty isn't it?

There really isn't much difference between a marble Bengal and a classic tabby.

Some people are pigs.

As long as people will pay over the odds without research, there will be those out to make a quick buck. Suckers make the world go round.....

Re: Bengals and classic tabbys

Marbed bengals do look different from classic tabbies, but not at first glance, they can look very similar!

Re: Bengals and classic tabbys

Scams. The only way to be sure you are buying a Bengal is to buy a registered pedigree Bengal. It reminds me of the Golf advert - it's stripy and brown so it is just like a Bengal.

Actually I think you might find that yours are seal point preferred pattern Snowshoes, they do seem to have lost the colourpoint gene somewhere along the line though, they seem to have gained the longhair gene though, so probably have some ragdoll in them.

Wow thanks. Aren't Snowshoes quite new in the UK? Cool, I can push the price up....shame I lost all the registration papers eh?

Re: Bengals and classic tabbys

but snowshoes are shorthaired

I had the snowshoe club trying to tell me that my Indy and Mabel are snowshoes (siamese x american shorthairs)

sleuthing dug up they are likley several generations down from a BSH x siamese as someone was crossing them then breeding the offspring to sell as 'shorientals'

OK, so mine are "Rare Longhaired Snowshoes; GCCF unrecognised"

This gets better!
