Cats reaction to your moods

Seems to me that cats are very perceptive when it comes to things such as out moods, knowing when you are down, knowing when something is wrong.
Do your cats seem to know when you're upset?
I've had horses like this before too, they just know when to rest a head on you and when not to be naughty.
I love my Thomas.

Re: Cats reaction to your moods

my last lad used to wipe my face with his lovely soft paw if I was crying. I've had a tough few years healthwise and he was amazing at knowing to not push things.... I have to inject myself with meds, and whereas he would have nudged me before, he knew not to nudge or jump up when I was injecting myself.

I have noticed that both cats respond differently at different times of the month.... (mabe TMI!)

Molly is very in tune with me. The other two don't seem to be bothered at all! But then again she is defiantly a people cat.

Molly will always cuddle up (more than usual) if I am in pain, upset or tired. I have ibs and she always lays her head on the painful part

I can have a full convo with her and she "appears" to understand and nudges at the right moment!

Re: Cats reaction to your moods

I am just recovering from the winter vomiting virus thingy gross. Mine are normally real nocturnal rascals anyway about 4am thursday morning I was lying on the bathroom floor (was so sick and then fainted and was in a terrible state) and my cat Boo came in to check I was ok and then just curled up next to me and kept looking at me worriedly. He was so gentle it was so cute.

I went to stay with my mum for a couple of days as the fainting was scary and had people round feeding them. Normally when I come back from going away they are both super hyper. However on saturday they both curled up next to me on the sofa and we watched the snow. They have both been lovely.

Re: Cats reaction to your moods

i was really bad a few years ago and 'my wifes' cat ( I wasn't that taken with cats before that ) spent a long time keeping me company and and looking after me (getting a bit upset writing this as she's gone now). Don't know if she knew what she was doing but she did help me lots. Poor Willow x

My 3 hardly ever come to bed with me all together - but when OH is on nights as soon as I turn the living room light off they follow me - probably coz they know i am a soft touch and wont hoik them off the bed the minute they turn into Tigger

Re: Cats reaction to your moods

My current two havent really had much chance to see me in different moods although when I was ill I got into the spare bed to join one and the other came to bed too.

The other day I stabbed my hand with broken glass and was laid on the sofa with my arm in the air to stop the little bleeding I had because being a drama queen I thought I might need stitches. Both cats came to investigate as to why I was looking like an idiot but neither offered me much sympathy.

My other cat who I have had since she was a kitten wasnt particularly in tune with my moods. I remember my rabbit dying and the cat being thrust at me...did she care? Nope.

I clearly just have very bitchy cats. Must take after their owner
