Which clippers?

'Someone' needs their claws clipping, usually it is done during a vet trip but we don't have one planned. I have tried before and can only ever manage one or 2 at a time.

Which are the best clippers, would you say, for a fidget, speed is of the essence, and I need to be sneaky?

Re: Which clippers?

Not sure I could get away with that.......

The clippers never seem to be sharp enough, even the pet ones I bought which are not very good anyway.

Maybe I don't press hard enough.

Re: Which clippers?

I found these ones to be the best so far : Small Scissor Nail Clippers for Cats and Dogs by Mikki | Pets at Home

Human nail clippers are not the best for cats claws IMO, too much room for error. Those ones on the link above are not the cheapest you can get them, if you shop around you can get them for less

Re: Which clippers?

I use my own nail clippers.
I have a proper clipper from zooplus and it doesn't work well.

Re: Which clippers?

ok heres my bit; having 11 cats at the moment with fosters clipping is something i do regularly and i lost my clippers recently i say lost i mean kitties kid them, so i bought some general ones and they were terrible they split the claws rather than cutting, the only ones i have ever had to be BRILLIANT are these Trixie Claw Household Clippers: Great Deals on Grooming Products at zooplus they cut like cigar cutters and are really good

Re: Which clippers?

I have some small ones which cut OK but the spring doesn't work so I have to reset them by hand by which time I have lost my cat.

Raggie doll, I have small and fairly weak hands, so wonder if the Trixie ones would be too much for me to handle, are they very big?

Dougal, I am not sure about the notch in the Mikki ones, are they easy to use?
raggie doll likes this.

Re: Which clippers?

they are actually quite small and easy to handle literally you just pull the handles together and it cuts but i haven't found them big or heavy you slip it round the cat claw and snip thats it i found them so much easier and actually cut the claws properly
