I'm so sorry I hope she feels better soon.

When I was on my driving lesson I was told that if I did an emergency stop for a cat on my driving test I would fail my driving test! My reply was I don't care, I'd rather fail my driving test than hit someone's cat!

Wow that is awful they expected you not to stop for a cat on your driving test!!!! No competent driver should be allowed to just plough into ANY object, living or otherwise........

When driving home from work once, I was driving past one of the famous London-area parks (Kew Gardens) where there is a long, high wall - when suddenly over the wall jumped a little grey cat, and ran right out into the road in front of my car!!! I immediately jumped on the brakes, but still saw the cat seem to disappear under my bonnett... and then emerge unscathed the other side and jump onto the pavement!!!

But for my extra-quick reaction, it would've been a very different outcome.

Re: marley was just hit by a car :`0(

Hi
I posted yesterday about our cat Rigsby getting run over( he was then about 11 yrs old)

You mentioned Marley dribbling-well Rigbsy did that a lot after the accident and he still does-4 yrs on
His mouth is slightly askew- if you know what I mean -and he often has his tongue sticking out

Re going out
After the accident Rigsby also used to cry at the door to go out
We took him out on a harness in the back garden but he was TERRIFIED and just lay on the grass
Now he doesnt bother at all-I wouldnt ever let him out now.

Would definitely get Marley checked again at the vet to put your mind at rest that everything is okay.
I would keep her in too -she is so small and vulnerable and deserves a long and safe life.

Please keep us updated on how things are going
Maureen

I still say to Rigsby when he is sitting looking out of the bedroom window
"do you remember the lady in the blue car?" and I am sure he says-Yes

Re: marley was just hit by a car :`0(

I had an episode with Chloe a few months ago, I noticed she could do nothing with her tail it was just being dragged by her she had no control of it, I just thought she had been in a cat fight and broke her tail

the vets had to give her a general anesthetic, (poor Chloe) they took some xrays she had no broken bones thank god! but she had a few swelling in her hips and tail area.
vet said it looked like she was under a car and it rolled over her tail or she was hit by a car and it was in her tail area where she was hit, plus 3 of her paws had blood and black stuff on them,

she was very sore had to be careful how I stroked her and she is such a loving cat she loves her strokes,

today was the first day since her accident that she can actually lift her tail all the way up,

so its been a good 6 weeks. they do take a long time to recover.

I said at the time of her accident she will not be going out again, she is very weary now of anything it spooks her out, plus she used to love going out at night but now she does not like going out at night so in a way its a blessing in disguise, hope your cat makes a good speedy recovery nothing worse than when they are poorly.

This reminds me of a very near miss I had a few years back when I was driving buses in Cornwall. I was driving the open-topped double decker along the coast road on the tourist route, and a small dog ran out from behind a hedge right in front of me. I - literally - stood on the brake, and the dog disappeared from my view in front of the bus. It was one of those moments when time seems to stand still, and I can remember hearing thumps from behind and above me as passengers fell off their seats, and the screaming of rubber on the road. I was thinking, "Don't you dare die!" Then the dog appeared, still running, on the other side of the bus. It was probably no more than a couple of seconds in all, but it was the longest couple of seconds of my life. Usually, if I had to brake suddenly, I always apologised and checked the passengers were alright. This time I was too shocked. I just waited until the scuffling had stopped, which presumably meant they were all back in their seats, and drove on.

Getting the odd tip on that route wasn't unusual, but when the passengers got off, not one of them complained, about a third of them left me a tip, and one foreign (Scandinavian, I think) lady thanked me for stopping for the little dog.

It just goes to show that people like the woman who ran over Marley are the exception. Most people would much rather be thrown out of their seats on a bus (and probably suffer a few bruises) than see an animal injured or killed.

Before that, when I was a driving instructor, I never told my pupils not to brake for cats or other animals. I just told them the situation regarding their test, and said they had to make their own choice what they'd do. Every single one said they'd choose to fail their test rather than run over an animal.

Glad to read that Marley got through the night. I was worried with you hun. How is she this afternoon? Is she still eating ok? Is it kitten milk you are giving her to drink? That is probably quite good as it will have lots of nutrients in it to keep her going until her little mouth has eased a bit.

Lots more hugs from Moggy Towers. xxx

Re: marley was just hit by a car :`0(

Just read through these 9 pages, hoping that Marley continued to be ok, and especially overnight. So glad she seems to be improving, although I would still be cautious of any internal injury. Hopefully the vet was thorough in their checking Marley over.

People like that "woman" make me sick. I remember when my rat died, and someone said, "Oh, it's only a rat" - I just couldn't believe how mean that was. It doesn't matter what the animal is, it is still precious and deserves every effort to keep them safe and healthy, and every right to be love and missed whatever they are, stick insect, fish, rodents, cat dog right up to horses when it comes to pets.
