Does any body else have a cat with an over sensitive tummy?

My poor Alfie is sick quite often.. he seems fine in himself but every now and then he'll be sick or get the odd bit of diarriah..

Lola on the other hand is the total opposite.. nothing phases her.

So cats who are prone to tummy problems, can it mostly be a result of a bad start in life? Or are some cats just born that way?

Would be nice to know if there are others out there with the same problems and how you deal with it.. feel like I'm having a constant battle with cat sick and runny poo's! NICE!

We had lodes of problems with Tinkerbell when we frst got her as the science diet was too much for her, but when we put her on felix and JWB we didnt have a problem.

One of my girls has quite loose poos,sometimes they are really bad,we call them mamma mia specialsshe farts and splutters for england!she is 6 now and has always been like it.

Most people know that I had lots of trouble with 3 of mine from when I got them. They were never sickie but had lots and lots of diarrhoea - and as you know, in a long haired cat it can cause a lot of mess.

I found that with Oscar, he was eating too much too quickly and his tummy was unable to process it. He also didn't get on well with the kitten food. We changed him to RC sensible, brouht him in from his stud pen at night so he wasn't lonely and fed him less and he has completely cleared up! He has also grown a lot because he is able to process the food now instead of it going straight through him.

Jazz had the same problem where she was just really greedy and even now she will push the other cats out of the way when they are feeding in case they have something better than her!

Lucy it turns out was intolerant to certain foods and so she is now on the RC hypoallergenic diet and she has also cleared up.

I think sometimes diarrhoea can be a hereditary thing where it is passed down the lines and other times it can just be a one off to get a cat with a sensitive tum. Funnily enough though, my moggies never ever get diarrhoea!!!

Hope you can clear him up soon though as I know how frustrating it can be

Yeh he goes through stages where he'll be sick most days then he;ll go a few months with none at all.. he does eat VERY quick.. as well which cant help.

He had bad diarriah last night so me and the OH had to give Alfie a butt bath! Not great having a cat with white long fur and having diarriah!

Will see how he gets on this week.. he always looks really embarrassed when it gets on his fur! bless him.

Yes I remember you talking about the problems with your cats tummies.. it's such a nightmare isnt it.

Yes Bee,our old man moggie Noodypops has a sensitive tummy,he's fine pretty much since i changed his diet but sometimes if i try him on a little of something different he craps one paw away from his tray and like your Alfie's it's warm and quite wetD He can have tuna,chicken and raw beef and coonie biccies,but nothing else reallyOther than this he's fine if a lot lazy at times,but i can forgive him that

aww bless.. well luckily Alfie has learnt to get to the tray quick enough but the sick goes straight on the carpet!

Oh the joys,it's not so bad if it's a sausage one straight from the gut,but when it's sloppy with lumps...yeah even thru the cloth you can feel the warmth
