Re: Cats with sensitive Tummies..

if your poorly tummy cat eats to quickly you should try and get him food that is harder to crunch up (siamese food is generally harder as they are bad for shoveling their food) the harder it is the more time they take to munch it.

we've found with neeps that cheaper dry foods (Like tescos own, usually harder with being cheap) is the least problematic for her sensitive tum. she tends to smell of poo and have really smelly poos when we give her anything expensive. neeps' problem is her digestive system doesn't work as well as it should and most of the good stuff goes straight through her, so the cheaper food works out well as it's less refined and stays in her stomach longer.

We have tried neeps on the 'expensive' royal canin and another few special senstive cat dry foods but we've found that both the cats like it so much they constantly pester us for more. (either that or it's not giving them dietary satisfaction and they're actually feeling hungry ALL THE TIME).

If you give your cat treats, either proper cat treats or bits of chicken etc i would stop doing that to see if it makes any difference.

Alfie was on Whiskas kitten puches when I got him and everytime he ate it he kept throwing it back up.. same with Felix..

Tried him on the JWB dry kibble and that gave him constant diarriah...

Now I avoid giving him much dry as it seems to make things worse.

At the moment it's been sick thats more of a problem, his stools have been firm (apart from last night's poo incident!)..

Re: Cats with sensitive Tummies..

i saw some dog dishes recently that had nodules on them to stop dogs bolting down their food. Maybe one of the smaller dishes would work for cats? I think i saw it on zooplus under dog bowls. Might stop them being sick.

Re: Cats with sensitive Tummies..

I had the same problem with one of my girls in that she just bolted her food down. LousKoonz suggested feeding on a tray so that the food was spread out more and therefore harder for them to eat as quickly. At first, it didn't seem to make much difference but after a couple of days, she was actually leaving food on the tray and then coming back a while later to have some more. It made a huge difference.

xx

Sounds just like my Jazz....she literally shook as she was eating and didn't chew at all!!! I also started to feed little and often instead so that there wasn't a whole meal down at any one time. Perhaps feed him over the other side of the room to Lola or just supervise the feeding and move him away if he starts on hers!

Good luck xx

I'll have to separate them.. I've never known a cat so obsessed with food.. my OH was having some toast the other day and Alfie smelt the Marmite so ran over and shoved his face in the marmite!

Re: Cats with sensitive Tummies..

If you are giving him fresh food, you could try cutting it into bigger chunks forcing him to chew and work at it. Chunks of raw lamb or beef are great for making them chew.
